I feed my dog the required amount every day (we did have to put him on a diet when we first got him as he was a rescue puppy and very overweight) he is know the weight he should be and he is fed a dry diet (science plan)

He is 2 years old and no matter what we do he just bolts his food down (don't think he actually chews) and after he has eaten he sniffs around looking for more. He is wormed regularly at the vets.

What can i do to stop him behaving like this - he acts as though it is his last meal on earth.

(Sorry I am late on the post, I just came back from groceries and petsmart)
Yesterday we discussed about dog baths and dog shampoo. Allot of you said, in fact all of you said you used oatmeal based shampoo. So that might be the best one for your pooch.

Do you let your dog sleep with you on your bed?
Do you sleep in the same room but different beds for owner and dog? Are you a hygiene person or you don't mind sleeping with your dog, eating, and bathing with your dog?

Ok so my sister brought home 8 five week old puppies. The owner left the puppies and their mother alone for 5 days while he went on vacation. My sister didn't want to leave them because they were just sitting outside in the dirt and were not going to be brought inside anywhere out of the cold. So she brought them home. Yesterday, she brought them back to their mother, and she rejected them by snarling, growling, and biting them. My sister bought some puppy food and all the puppies will eat except one of them. He is a brindle male. He hasny eaten in a couple of days. He also has a little infection on his you know what. However my sister took him to the vet and they told her just to clean it really well. I really need some advice. Any suggestions are welcome and GREATLY needed.
Thanks =D

I'm going to shift gears a bit. I know that people using YA live all over the place so the legal issues in your area are different.

Are your dogs licensed? Are there any community or state requirements for owning a dog in your area? Do you follow them? If so, why? If not, why?

The friends of mine that I talk about often who have dogs are probably supposed to license their dogs by their state and local laws. I know that none of their dogs have a license. Mainly, because I believe my friends think it's no one's business how many dogs they have. But then I'm not exactly sure since I'm not answering this question myself... YA doesn't like it if you answer your own question.

Please share your experience with the group. I shall choose a best answer to this question (which is OBVIOUSLY not a poll) in a day or two. Inquiring minds want to know.

I am rather curious as to what other parasites dogs can pick up, besides fleas, ticks, and mites. I noticed something on my dog the other day but she is not showing the signs of fleas (scratching and self-mutilation), mites, and no ticks. Are there parasites that are attracted to dogs or insects?

I am getting a tiny teacup yorkie, it has already been vaccinated. How much will it cost to get her spayed/nutered?
And how much does a vet cost per year for everything?
I live in Canada, in the Toronto area.
Be detailed please!

I thought i knew exactly what dog I wanted.I have been doing reasearch for 2 months now.I thought a shih tzu was definetly the perfect dog for me because it was cute, smart, better for allergies and just the perfect dog.But now that i have met a lot of shih tzus,7/10 had HEALTH PROBLEMS!And i realized that they are very gental so my clumsy little cousins might kill him.I am really stuck. Can ANYONE tell me what dog I should remember,it needs to stay cute and small so like looks like a puppy for its whole life and doesnt scare any of my little cousins, hypoallergenic, and does not get health problems every 10 seconds.PLEASE HELP ME!

I have a 3 year old Shih-Tzu who is not neutered. We just got a 2 month old Yorkie 2 weeks ago. Shih-Tzu isn't neutered, and the Yorkie is still young. If S-T stays un-neutered, and the Yorkie will not be, do you think there will be problems in the future?

Our neighbors dog continues to run through the fence and attack other dogs. Yesterday he an through and got a dog in my yard and the kids put him back. they went for a bike ride and on the way back the dog ran through after them, he did not bite them, but the kids were scared to death. The other neighbors called the police and the cops want us to get it on video because the owner of the dog says they had no idea, than they said he does not like tires and we know that. It is a public street and they are telling us to not let the kids ride bikes. They are only riding by to go to a friends house. The owners know we have a problem we have talked about it and they continue to be in denial, we have many time gotten the dog off another dog and they had a lady stop by one day and told them the dog came after her. What can we do about this since the owner is totally in denial? Our kids are scared to death to go outside. They told the cops he has not bitten anyone, so we just wait for him to do

Everytime I pet my dog its ears fold back but it seems happy, I read that if a dog's ears fold back that means its scared, is my dog scared or dose it feel more comfortable when I pet him for his ears to be folded back?
