Our neighbors dog continues to run through the fence and attack other dogs. Yesterday he an through and got a dog in my yard and the kids put him back. they went for a bike ride and on the way back the dog ran through after them, he did not bite them, but the kids were scared to death. The other neighbors called the police and the cops want us to get it on video because the owner of the dog says they had no idea, than they said he does not like tires and we know that. It is a public street and they are telling us to not let the kids ride bikes. They are only riding by to go to a friends house. The owners know we have a problem we have talked about it and they continue to be in denial, we have many time gotten the dog off another dog and they had a lady stop by one day and told them the dog came after her. What can we do about this since the owner is totally in denial? Our kids are scared to death to go outside. They told the cops he has not bitten anyone, so we just wait for him to do

We used to be good friends with them and we did talk to them because he is doing it right with the kids next to the other dog or I should say dogs. They denied i then and said he has never bit anyone. We used to let the dogs out when they were gone all day and the last time we did he came after me and my husband, we told them and they said "I wonder why he was being a butt" It was Sat. so we had to use the cops because animal control was closed. The fence is an underground system and the little kids next door said it was turned off and he would tell his parents what the dog did. It does not matter if the fence is on or off he runs through and we have helped many times get him back into it.
We have gotten him off other dogs many times and they called us on vacation one time to tell us he hurt a dog bad and wanted to know if it was the neighbors across the street.

If the dog will attack other dogs it'll attack people. The cops may be right that your local law doesn't declare a dog a "dangerous animal" until it's actually bitten someone, though it's worth looking up the actual statue: in some areas it's enough that they act aggressively toward people.

Still, there are some things which may help. Explain to the owner that when the dog bites anyone you'll make sure that the victim sues and takes possession of the dog owner's house, car, boat, video game system, etc. If that doesn't work you may want to take up bike riding yourself. A bit of pepper spray when the dog comes after you may be all it takes to cure it.

Yes, the dog has the whole neighborhood on guard, that's a problem. I think the video idea is good. You definitely need to get this dog locked up before he bites someone, but your kids should be able to ride their bikes without fear of being attacked by a dog.
Do you have an animal control officer in your area? If so, you could call that office directly and they should be able to do something.

Why won't the neighbors just fix the fence so the dog can't get out anymore? The next time the dog is out call animal control so they can pick the dog up. Everytime you see him out call them. It's ridiculous that the police want to wait until someone gets bit before they do anything.

A dog like that is a serious problem. The owners need some serious Dog Whisperer help. I would suggest documenting all of the incidents as best as possible & calling animal control everytime there is an incident.

Seems like the cops should do something about it! I would video it. Are you friendly with the neighbors? Is there anyway you could talk to them about it then show them the footage. You should not have to wait for someone or someone's dog to get bit!

Forget calling the cops -- it is not a criminal offence -- I would contact animal control - that is their speciality
