You don't use it directly on the dog. You sprinkle it on the floor and under furniture cushions and then sweep it up the next day. Don't put it on the dog.
You buy it at WalMart or any other store where they sell laundry detergent. It comes in a box and is called 20 Mule Team. Here is a site with info... http://www.soapsgonebuy.com/20_Mule_Team_Borax_p/d1002.htm

Garlic capsules 5 days on and two days off as it gets into the blood and the fleas dont like it. Frontline from the vets works very well and if you dont have fleas on your animals you won't get them in the house. My top tip is once you have treated your animals hoover thoroughly (beds, under things) and throw the hoover contents immediately, do this a few times a week for about three weeks (the life cycle of a flea is three weeks) and you can be fairly certain that there are no eggs left waiting to hatch in your lovely flea free house.

It is highly poinsonous and has no antidote.
It should NEVER be placed where the dog can access it.
Boric Acid (Borax) is useful for sprinkling under couch cushions, mattresses, rugs, etc. In that manner it will kill fleas very effectively. If used improperly (ie. sprinkling anywhere with animal or child access) then it does a great job of killing animals and children. It is one of the best things though, so it is worth using as long as you use it properly and carefully.
If you arent fighting a flea outbreak it is unnecessary. Unless youve got an outbreak then just dog washing and a bit of treatment of the house with something less dangerous should work fine.

If your dog has fleas, you should d-flea it with some flea treatment shampoo, then comb them out (they should be dead) then go to the vets and get some frontline (fab stuff £6) to put on the dog, then d-flea your home, floors, beading, everything, do it in the morning, spray the stuff everywhere and go out for a while, then all will be good on the return! After this, I would recommend always bathing the dog in tea tree shampoo for dogs as fleas hate it!

my daughter recently had a massive flea infestation in her house. both her cats were crawling with them so i got her the drops that go on the back of the cats neck from the RSPCA at £5 per animal. you can get them for dogs as well.
that killed the cats fleas but the house was still jumping with them and my daughter was badly bitten around the ankles.
i did some reasearch on the net and discovered that VINEGAR kills fleas. you can apply it to the animals coat or pop some in their drinking water. also if you get fleas in your furniture and rooms then put down a saucer full of vinegar each evening and during the night the fleas are attracted by the smell and climb in and drown.
to find out how to use this treatment the name of the website is www.the vinegarbook.co,.uk

Tea tree oil is very effective. Dilute it in water and spray them all over. (Good for cats too). Also putting some organic vinegar in their water can help. A few teaspoons will do. Fleas don't like the taste of the blood. Garlic in their food now and again is also a good remedy. The word acid should ring warning bells in your ears.

somebody might have perplexed diatomaceous earth with boric acid. Boric acid is poisonous to canines, cats and different mammals in the event that they consume it, and it rather is used to kill cockroaches and different kitchen pests, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it is going to in no way be positioned out the place pets can get to it. quite a few people use the foodstuff grade diatomaceous earth to kill fleas with extremely reliable effects, and it is extensively utilized to kill inner parasites.

NO.
Some people use this to treat their house, but NEVER put it on an animal. I believe it says on the contraindications to keep away from animals!
You need to go to a vets to get a proper treatment that actually works. Random treatment like Borax and dish soap, and anything bought from a store, will NOT work.
