With all due respect he needs to learn that you are the leader of the pack and that he will get attention when you are ready.

Dogs aren't like people, they don't get hurt feelings in the same way that we do - they feel emotions and pain, but people put too many of our emotions onto our dogs.

Change what you are doing - if he is pawing at you or getting in your face turn your back on him and walk away. He may whine or follow you, but keep turning your back on him. If he tries to put his nose under your hand then cross your arms.

When he has stopped following you - call him over and get him to sit - once his bottom is on the floor praise him and give him a pat. When you have had enough say "enough" and move away. Each time he tries to force an interaction ignore him. When he has stopped pestering you and you are ready call him over and give him attention once he has his bottom on the floor.

One of my dogs is very needy as well and we have used this technique very successfully with her - as well as putting in place little things that make her know that she is not the dominant animal. We go through doorways first, they sleep on their own bed in the study, the dogs have to sit at meals and wait to be released before they can eat, and we used loose lead work to make sure that they walk by our sides without pulling our arms out of the socket.

If he is demanding attention all the time he is not happy. Giving him quality affection on your terms, and making sure that you are his leader will make him happier and should drastically reduce his attention seeking in just a few days. You just have to make the decision to be the boss and he should become less anxious and settle down.

You could get her more exercise so she is tired and doesn't need so much attention. Or you could find her a home where they understand that dogs like to be with people and like attention. Buy her some toys, do something with her. You know you aren't that busy.. spend the time with the dog.

just ignore him.. if he paws of nudges you, ignore it.. if he continues, get up and walk away and go do something else. He has learned that pawing and nudging gets attention. So dont give in. When there is a time that he is not pestering you, call him over and give him attention. He will learn he gets attention when YOU want it, and not when he bugs you for it.

get a long chain and chain it to the bumper of that old truck there in the back yard.. build it a shelter out of a couple pieces of plywood. make it a water bowl out of cement and if it barks just throw a beer bottle at it.

As soon as you realize he is the boss
and do what ever he wants the better
off things will be.
