Yes, they can.
Well, christel..I think you are calling the wrong person an idiot!!! If a woman has TWO eggs at ovulation...that would be FRATERNAL twins, they CAN be of two different fathers. If there is ONE egg that splits, IDENTICAL twins, there can only be one father.
MAybe learn a little something before calling someone an idiot!!!!
And it is not all that rare for a dog, left on it's own and in heat, to have puppies with many different fathers.

Yes and when that happens, you must DNA test the parents and the pups to find out who sired which pups.
Excuse me.. but who ever gave me a thumbs down for my answer is a blooming idiot. What I have stated is a FACT. not a guess. Geeezaz. Why are people so stupid.
Peaches.. if the 6 pups were not DNA tested then you can't know for certain that 6 of the pups belonged to the registered dog. They could have just resembled the mother more then the father.. You can't determine parentage by simply looking at a litter. One may have been obvious, but doesn't mean the others were out of the sire you thought. This is how pedigrees get screwed up. People don't take it seriously and a few generations down the road when someone who has done everything right gets a dog who looks not so much like the breed standard... and has no clue why.. well, these type of things are the reason.
Alyssa.. It is NOT rare adn happens all the time. The window is pretty big for people who are not paying attention to their bltches. 5 to 7 days is not a narrow window of time for irresponsible owners to allow multiple sired litters to occur.

Yes! Just like human twins can be out of 2 fathers! Well to the idiot that called me an idiot, you better study biology again! Fraternal twins in humans can be out of 2 different fathers! Go back to school and learn something this time! If a woman decides to sleep with 2 men around the same time and 2 eggs were ovulated, sperm from each man can fertilize an egg! Hence twin babies from 2 different fathers at the same birth.
Freedom, there are dingbats that end up with a mixed litter and they do not DNA a thing, they just sell the pups from the litter with papers that they think are out of the papered sire. These are the people who should never be breeding ever!

Yes, my son was breeding chow chows. All 6 out of 7 puppies were born full blooded chows, but one was not. Since both mother and father of the 6 puppies were registered with The American Kennel Association, we knew that the father of the one mutt puppy was a neighborhood dog.

I am assuming you mean with the same litter. I would say yes. Did you know that a set of twins from a woman can be by two separate fathers? I know it sounds strange, but fraternal twins are two separate eggs fertilized by two separate sperm, so it is possible to give birth to twins from two separate men. So I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for dogs.

It's technically possible, but rare. The female would have to mate with two or more dogs in a narrow window of time to achieve this result. If you have a litter of puppies that all look different, and the parents are not purebreds, it's more likely that different genes from different parts of the parents backgrounds are emerging. Two mutts can produce 10 pups that don't look a thing alike without it being caused by 2 separate fathers.
