We are purchasing a collie after she has her 1st litter of pups. She has a beautiful thick coat right now but we were told after the pups she would lose most of her hair. They told us it would take 4 to 6 months to grow back. Is this true? Is it healthy?

My jack russell terrier has just been diagnosed with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA). Our entire family is really grief stricken by the news. While normally he is bouncy, lively, and an overall character, ham and always playful. He rarely leaves his bed, only to drink or go to the bathroom. He is on medication (prednisone and metronidazole) and has been for two days so far, there hasn't been much improvement. I guess I'm just curious to know if there are others out there who have had a dog with the condition. What can we do to make him more comfortable? I read that there is a lack of red blood cells and therefore a lack of oxygen, is there anyway for us to get more oxygen to him?

Thank you in advance?

She's 16 and really loves wet food. We are giving her dry food too, but it's harder for her to eat than wet food.
Is there a dry food that is a little softer?
Or is it ok to have her on just wet food.
What's the best wet food for a senior dog?

Okay, so I have a 4 year old german shepherd mix with... something, and two 3 year old german shepherd mixed with something, but I think border collie? Well, they are all outside dogs, and I live out in the woods, and they enjoy bringing us little presents, not dead animals, but hats and shirts and cleaned up deerhides, whatever they can find. We have a neighbor who said that his wife and grandchild were scared of them, but they are as nice as can be, but I can see how they would think our dogs looked scary and stuff. And then another neighbor who said he dug a garden, and they dug it back up, so he made it again... and then they dug it back up. There is also another neighbor, and Im not quite sure what they did to him, but we were taking a walk and he was chasing him off his property and screaming. Well, besides that guy, everyone has been nice about it when they came and talked to us, but it is annoying them. I was wondering if there is anyway to train them to stay home and behave?

I have an American Eskimo puppy. She is about 4 months old, and she likes to bite. Alot. Anything that I can do to make this problem vanish? Oh, and you know some puppies do things like "over the edge" That gets you really mad? What kinds of punishments do you do? Thanx

I was looking on the ASPCA website, and they claim that this is the list of 'no no's' for cooking for your dog.

Chocolate
Bones
Milk
Avocado
Coffee
Raisins and grapes
Moldy or spoiled food
Salt
Garlic
Onions, onion powder

I agree with the majority of the list, however, when I found the recipes for cooking meals for your dog, one claimed it's alright to add a little garlic into the recipe because it's a natural flea repellent.

Any thoughts/knowledge on this?

I have a 8 months old dog. We leave him outside for about 8 hours while i got to school and my parents go to work.We built a pen for him in the back yard, it's made of concrete slabs (floor), and a tall wire fence. around it.The 2nd time we put him in there, he bent up a huge hole in the wire fence, and got out. After we fixed it, we kinda like staked the edges of the fence down so he couldn't get up under them. And again, he got out.But this time he chewed a hole in the fence! he chewed right through it!!So then, we doubled the fence around it. like we put 2 layers of fencing. We were SURE that he wouldnt get out now.but then.. well you know ho it goes. he chewed through the 2 layers of fence. So then my dad was just like ok, whatever. we let our dog stay in the backyard all day.we gave him things to keep him busy, but he started digging. He is tearing up the yard and we are going to have to get rid of him if we can't find a way to get him to stop, or to stay in the fence
plz help! =[

I have a 7 year old boxer female. She has developed a small lump, that when I found it was the size of a nickle, it is hard. I took her to the vet & he said, it was nothing, & though it was hard, he thought it might be a "fat deposit." her health has never been an issue. But now she has 3 more. They are all hard, & the original now the size of a silver 1/2 dollar, the other one is the size of a quarter, & the newest 1 is about the size of a nickle. They are all on the under cariage of her belly, & the largest 1 is on her side. Now a neighbor who works as a vettech, told me to take her somewhere else, cause it could be cancerous since they are hard nodules, & the one seems to be getting larger. Does anyone have any experience w/ this? I am taking her to a new vet, they scheduled her in 2wks, cause they want her records 1rst. She is like one of our children, & infact we got her exactly 1 week to the day our 1rst son was born. We are scared & sad, Any help would begreatly appreciated.

Of ALL the flea control products for dogs, which works the best for your pets? Please tell me your good and bad experiences with different flea control products. I'm kind of torn between a few of the leading products (frontline, advantage, revolution) and want to know what your experiences have been with different products. Whats good? Whats bad? Why?

Thanks so much!

We got our dog from an animal shelter when she was only 8 weeks old. I was 5 months pregnant at the time and she really took to liking me and being very loving and gentle. Then when I had my baby she began showing me her teeth alot! My baby is now 6 months old and I have another 2 1/2 year old child. My dog is still showing me (and only me) her teeth! No growling or bitting... Nothing like that. Just showing me her teeth. I'm not mean to her. I don't hit or yell or anything but I have started to stay away from her. Why do you think she's acting like this towards me and what can I do to make her stop? Do you think she's a threat to my daughters?

Also, please read my question I left earlier about my dog being pregnant. This was going on long before the pregnancy though...

We recently got a female adult boston terrier. she has been through a lot in the past four months but since we've had her she has not eliminated or passed any bowels for the three days and counting that she's been home with us. I am concerned that she may get sick if she doesn't go soon! Any tips on adult dogs who are adjusting to new environments? We take her out every so often and just wait outside but she just stares back at us. please help!
