by the way, the dog i have now has met atleast 50 other dogs (and hes only a year old) and he has gotten along with all of them. So finding a dog he will get along with is not a problem

ok. my mom wants a female dog because they are less territorial and this dog will be around many others.

next, i have an agreement with my mom that she will keep the dog with her while i am in college, and once i graduate I will take the dog with me.

I have a question for you:

What will happen to your dog when you go to college?

HI,
Well here is one I think when you adopt from any shelter you have to sign a spay neuter contract so there should be no matter weather it is female or male and It seems as if she would prefer a female over a male as she would not be lifting her leg as all males do even if they are Neutered
Well if she took you into get the dog now who s decision is it yours or Moms now is the dog for you or Mom??
You have to be one of the Teenagers who is going to remain responsible and not poop out and stop feeding walking and caring for your dog when you have friends to hang out with and stuff
Offer to sign a contract with mom you write it up have Mom do the same write one up and then compare notes and combine them and you both stick to it or Else
That is what My daughter and I did and she has the most adorable Little Female Pomeranian (Pure Black) her name is Peyton and when Chelsea leaves Poor little Peyton will lay by the back door waiting for her but when Chelsea is home Peyton is in her arms the whole time
So Do the contract with Mom and stick to it and I bet you will get a real nice pup to love for many many years and also make your Mom super Proud of you I already would be with your Grades
Keep up the Good work

Now, to be fair, that was NOT her 'excuse', it was her REASON.
If your Mum has her heart set on a dog, then she is right not to give in and get a bi tch. Personally =, I have both, and o real preference for either, but, your Mum DOES and is right to stick to her guns. Just remember, a dog will (hopefully) live 15 years or more - and there is a fairly high chance that you will have left home, got married, and even started a family by that time....and any dog oyu get now, is still going to be at home with Mum. So I don't think she NEEDS convincing, I just think you need to carry on visiting shelters, until a dog comes round that you ALL fall for. It WILL happen, just TRY to be patient =)

Th decision to get a dog needs to be a family one. The gender of the dog is not as important as whether it will get along with the existing dog in your house. I wanted a female and a smaller dog, but in the end Candy (our lab) picked out a male mix breed. She has always been a great judge of character and she was right about him, he's a doll. You should bring the dog you have to the shelter and let the staff make the introductions.

I'm also in high school and have a female dog. We got our dog because they help you deal with stress but I think she is way more than that. She can always tell when something is bugging me and will just come and sit with me and it always makes me feel better. No matter what I do to her...like if I don't take her for a walk or forget to feed her, she will always forgive me and will always come and greet me when I get home. Its like having a best friend who will never talk back to you or get mad at you and will always be there for you when you need it most. Just explain that to your mom!

Since you got it at a humane society, all of their dogs would be neuterd or spayed. This helps with male dogs marking their territory, but even neutered male dogs will still want to do this.

If you do get a dog, make sure you introduce the new one to your family dog on neutral grounds. If you introduce the new dog to your current one at home, the family dog may think that the new dog is infringing on its territory and could start fights. (Especially if they are of the same sex.) Try introducing the two dogs together at a dog park. That way they are both on new grounds and neither will feel like it is its territory.

depending on what breed of dog it is females can be much different from male dogs. also if the other dog in the house is also a female it would actually be worse than 2 males because females are more aggressive towards each other. but if that is the case then just tell her that you will train her. and if it is the spaying, alot of humane societies include it in their fee. other than that i dont know any other reasons that the dog being a female would alter the situation. if it is not one of thse reasons, ask her how the dog being a girl keeps her from adopting it.

i'm uncertain with regard to the guidelines or if there are any, yet a dogs ought to be in warmth to be pregnant. How previous became the different dogs and became she even in warmth? i do no longer think of you will desire to would desire to pay for the dogs to get spayed. Vets do no longer many times desire to spay canines in warmth besides. So it somewhat is no longer likely that if the dogs became in warmth that it would be getting spayed day after today. formerly you do pay for the spay get some greater information.

First of all, a girl dog would be better because boy dogs pee everywhere and ramble around a lot. All you have to do is get the girl dog fixed and you won't have any trouble, I know because I have four girl dogs, all fixed. Tell her that a girl dog wouldn't be as hyper as a boy, and that girls are more loving and probably wouldn't get into fights with whatever comes in your yard like a boy.

I would suggest letting your mom know that you have thought through all the issues in getting another pet.

If you were to get another dog, who would feed it, brush it, walk it, play with it, and train it? How would you make sure that a new dog would get along with the pets you already have? Who pays for food and vet care? What happens to the dog when you leave home?
