We are purchasing a collie after she has her 1st litter of pups. She has a beautiful thick coat right now but we were told after the pups she would lose most of her hair. They told us it would take 4 to 6 months to grow back. Is this true? Is it healthy?

Yes, it is true, and it is normal. Do NOT put a bunch of stuff into her food. Just feed her a quality diet, and her coat will come back in just fine.

Hi
Collies are real similar to Pomeranians and allot of females will loose there under coat they have 2 coats the under and over and the over coat is the longer fuller hair under is the short close to the body fluffy hair
They are giving everything to the babies I know my female Poms do but taking 4 to 6 months to grow back is incorrect I have a litter rite now and they have just turned 5 months and Mama has such a huge full coat better than before she had the pups it started coming back soon as she stopped nursing the pups
So I would not let this stop you from Purchasing her as all you have to do is feed her the proper diet and her coat will come back so beautiful you will never know she even had a litter
Good Luck To You and Your New Pup

It is true for all female dogs after having a litter. They loose the belly hair before whelping, then after they will loose a good deal of the entire body. Not to worry - it will come back and it will come back better than ever. Be sure to be feeding a premium food, no corn no wheat diet. The best way to deal with the hair loss is when she begins to do what is called "blow coat" then give her a bath in warm water, let her just air dry. Then the next day, if you don't have a forced air dryer for dogs, take her a grooming shop that does, have them rebathe her. The process is called force blow, and it will keep the hair in the house to a minimum.

Yes. Newfies look like Flat-Coats after having a litter. The coat comes back fairly quickly though, depending on the season.

All female dogs blow their coats after having a litter of pups, but if you give them about 1/4 teaspoon of the liquid CORN oil shortening ,their coat will come back shortly and be very beautiful.

In my experience, long-haired dams do lose coat after whelping. How much depends a lot on whether or not she's getting proper nutrition during pregnancy and while she's nursing.

If they are like long coat chihuahuas, they blow their coat after whelping, but it will grow back in lush and full.

It's true. She will lose (or blow) her coats, but don't worry, the coat will grow back.

the biggest to having various toys is to not bypass away them laying around (comparable for rawhides and bones). Make the chunk toys right into a sort of manage. So enable them to play with them for a on an identical time as, yet then take the toy away and positioned it away. once you bypass away toys out each and every of the time, the animal can grow to be disinterested. by skill of in basic terms giving them to the animal from time to time, the canines feels as though it has an entire new toy each and every time. additionally, you should understand, that labs are chewers. inspite of the technique above, we had situations of things being chewed up. i'd come decrease back to locate one million/2 a sock on the floor yet would in no way locate the different one million/2. i can in basic terms assume she digested the different one million/2! determine you %. each and every thing up so the animal can't get to it. sure, you will must be to blame on your products. No offense, yet it is not each and every of the canines fault in case you already know they are chewers. I had to make optimistic I in no way left socks or shoes exterior of a closet as she would consume them! you additionally can desire to crate prepare them so they gained't be left to wander around at night. you should get rawhide or bully sticks. Bully sticks are greater humane as they are digestible. Play and walk them to diffuse some ability and don't get too bored. And final, you incredibly desire to take them to a pair form of coaching and study the thank you to coach them your self. i'm unsure which of the two breeds would be dominant whilst they get out of their domestic dog mode (which would be in approximately 2-3 years), yet on your sake i'm hoping this is the Lab. Labs enjoyed to be experienced on an identical time as Husky's desire to be experienced on their words in basic terms. solid success!
