Okay, so I have a 4 year old german shepherd mix with... something, and two 3 year old german shepherd mixed with something, but I think border collie? Well, they are all outside dogs, and I live out in the woods, and they enjoy bringing us little presents, not dead animals, but hats and shirts and cleaned up deerhides, whatever they can find. We have a neighbor who said that his wife and grandchild were scared of them, but they are as nice as can be, but I can see how they would think our dogs looked scary and stuff. And then another neighbor who said he dug a garden, and they dug it back up, so he made it again... and then they dug it back up. There is also another neighbor, and Im not quite sure what they did to him, but we were taking a walk and he was chasing him off his property and screaming. Well, besides that guy, everyone has been nice about it when they came and talked to us, but it is annoying them. I was wondering if there is anyway to train them to stay home and behave?

Well, they do stay home. It's just that they consider your neighbor's property part of their territory, so whatever's there is fair game. I don't think you'll have a lot of luck training them to stay right by the house, so a kennel or run may be the only way, unless you could afford to fence the whole property. While it may be a lot of fun for them to run through the woods, at some point your neighbors will get thoroughly ticked off and quit being so nice.

Get a fence. No dog should be allowed to raom. Its dangerous for them and others. Your dogs may not come home one day. Could get shot from a pissed off neighbor. In a fight with coyotes. These are all things that happen to dogs that live in wooded area's. Your dogs have no manners. Training is needed. You can't get a dog and not teach it limits. They need limits. Your neighbors will appreciate it.

I don't think you can train them to stay home if they're used to running loose. You do need to prevent your dogs from annoying and frightening your neighbors.

You can install a traditional fence or an 'invisible' fence around part of your property, or keep your dogs in the house or in a kennel. When out for walks, keep them leashed and off other people's property.

Legally dogs are suposed to be tied up to avoid these kinds of situations. If your neighbors start to call the police about the problem, too many calls to the police station will eventually get your dogs taken away. They are obviously driving your neighbors crazy wrecking private property and steeling things that dont belong to them. The only thing I can think of to help you out is to tie them up or buy an invisable fence for them. Call a pet store and ask about it.

Why do you have dogs if you can't properly care for them?

Most places have leash laws for good reason - dogs running lose tend to cause problems because they are left to their own devices. They are destroying other people's property and you are liabel for it -- if you can't be responsible and contain your dogs properly, please put them in a shelter for rehoming. Your dogs don't have a right to roam free on other people's property and certainly don't have the right to destroy other people's property. You either need to be a responsible dog owner or don't own one.

Someone suggested chaining them - don't do that - it simply makes them more problematic as they get frustrated so when they break loose they are more problematic. Fence your yard so that it will confine them and keep them away from other people's property -- how would you like everyone else's dogs to come and tear up your property?

You have been VERY irresponsible up to this point. One thing you can always garantee with ANY animal, is that you can never be 100% sure of what they will do. They have no moral compass and react primally to fear, anger etc. Dogs that size - especially in a pair - could kill and child in seconds. They should NEVER be allowed to rome. The fact tha they are bringing you presents shows that they have already resorted to 'wild' tactics - namely scavaging. Who is to say they will not also decide to add hunting to their list. Your dogs should be contained in a large pen, with a roof. They should be taken for extensive excersize at least twice a day, but in a secure area and NEVER out of your sight. It is very late in their lives to train them, but I suggest you take them to obedience classes so you will have at least some control over their actions.

So you have 3 German Shepards running around and several neighbors have already complained to you, yet you seem to be blind to the problem. It is up to you to fence your yard or somehow contain your animals. Can you blame anyone for being afraid of 3 German Shepards? Honestly, the Animal Control officer in my neighborhood told me I have the right to "defend myself" against dogs that come in my yard and I bet your neighbors also have that right. One of these days someone is going to take it upon themselves to permanently remove your dogs from their yard.

what about a fence? If you had a fence your dogs would stay in your yard.

Or give them a job. German shepherds need something to do and if there part border collie then they really need something to do.

I had a border collie mix and she had a job. It wasn't really a job but she liked to chase the cows and herd them.

Shepherd and border collies are herd dogs.

It's called a fence and people who don't take responsibility for their dogs safety are cat people (that is an insult) Buck up and do your job before your dogs pay the price.

get a fence...lol..dogs let loose will go anywhere, not many dogs will stay in the yard except when they are contained..put up a fence or get an invisible fence..but if your not out there constantly telling them not to go past a certain point, the second you leave its wandering time..good luck
