I know some breeders do it so how is you force a pregnancy on a dog? My dog did it naturally, I am not sure I could force her.

She's usually not withdrawn, and very playful in the mornings. I'm really worried about her...?

Any thoughts?

My dog has A LOT of fleas and I've tried everything. Any flea prevention you put on their back doesn't work for her. I've tried K9 Advantix, Advantage, Hartz, and everything else. The vet said it just doesn't work with some dogs; Just like some antibiotics don't work with people. I've had my house sprayed and the yard sprayed. She does like to dig. Are there any old wives tales or home remedies for getting rid of fleas. I've wasted a lot of money trying to get rid of them and they won't go away.

It has been super windy here for the last few days and my dog is running mad around the house shooting off tiny lightnings every time she comes too close to a metal object. She is 10 lbs but has now fluffed out to be about 3 feet in diameter because of the static electricity.. The worst is when she sneaks up and shocks me... I tried dryer sheets and anti static strips, it just isn't helping... Should I just stick her to the wall? dog?

We are hopefully going to breed our Champion Bouvier des Flanders female when she goes in season the end of the year.
The most important thing I look for in a Bouvier is movement. If they don't gait well, to me is telling me that they aren't put together all that well.
I'm leaning towards the name Crescendo Bouviers but I want everyone's imput.

And for those of you who think they want to blast me for wanting to breed my girl. Dont waste your energy. I will only breed her to a stud who compliments her faults and has gone through all the health testing. This is not going to be a "back yard breeding"

My moms neighbors dog is mean, she barks at me everytime I try going to my moms house. I can handle it if she stays in front of her own house but she blocks me from entering my moms house. I would understand if she didnt know who I was but I visit my mom at least 3 to 4 times a week. She barks at anyone, not just me and my main concern are my kids and my nephews and nieces! Can I mase her if she's barking at me and I feel like she's about to attack? I saw that show "it's me or the dog" and she used this gadget that made a really loud noise when the dog tried to open the fridge...can i get one that i can carry in my purse and scare the dog away that way she learns not to bark at me when I have every right to visit my own mother?

I was searching petfinder.com for adoptable dogs and I came across a toy poodle for adoption .I called the animal rescue , for the info on her. This is what they told me : She is a sweet little redhead purebred Toy Poodle who weighs in at about 5lbs. She's a pretty little thing and will be a great companion. She was a show dog but her breeder recently had an accident and can't take care of her dogs right now. Lucky for her she can become someone's best friend. She is up to date on vaccines and will be spayed and get her teeth cleaned before being placed.
Reputable breeders what would you have done if you had an accident and could no longer for your dogs? Was she a reputable breeder ,is her reason a valid one for bringing her dogs to a rescue?

In keeping with the Stray thread of the past few days http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApLWyAbJ0wZxnD2_Yp1w_Z7sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071021144734AA87Qlz

I thought I'd ask to think about this situation. Somehow, your dog is missing. It doesn't matter how it happened, or how unlikely that is to occur, he or she is gone and has been for who knows how long.

What do you do? Who do you call? Where do you start looking? How do you go about making sure your dog has the best chance of getting home?

This is a scary situation and I know it's probably happened to ALL of us at one time or another - for 5 minutes or maybe even longer.

No judgments, no wrong answers here. This is a complete brainstorming session to help EVERYONE who has or ever may lose their dog.

What do you do?

My dog blue wont stop her scratching and i think she may have fleas even after giving her a half hour flea shampoo and conditioner bath as soon as she is dried off and setteled down she starts her frantic scratching again....i also have 3 cats and 2 of them are always outside roaming the estate...the 3rd is too fat and lazy to go out...anyway..i found 2 HUGE fleas on the smallest of our 3 cats last week and i genly took them out of his fur and squashed them...i cant afford to take all the animals to the vets as they are quite alot of money when it comes to fleas...i tried vinegar on my dog once and that did get rid of the fleas for a while but it dried out her skin so she was scratching so bad it was making her sore...has anyone got any other ideas on helping my poochie and 3 kitties get rid of their fleas as well as using powder and sprays???...

I found an ad in my local paper to purchase a puppy. I went to the house that referred to themselves as a "kennel". I gave them the money just to save one puppy from this disaster. It was more of a rescue effort than anything. I don't want to get personally involved because I am not one for drama. Does anyone know anything about this??

I think she looks thin, and sometimes hard to feed. She only eats her feeds if I'll be the one to feed her, with my own hands.

How about vitamins and milk? will it work?

I gave her and her mom (also a basset) one capsule of Vitamin E this afternoon.

I have an 8-year old, 160 lb. Rottweiler that has bad hips. I looked into the hip joint medicine for dogs, but for his size he would have to take about 5 pills a day and it is crazy expensive.

Can I give him joint supplements for people? Should it be glucosamine or shark cartiledge? Or something else? Thanks!

My dog goes completly crazy when I'm not at home, this did not start until I moved into the house I'm in now. He is a pointer mix 66lbs...He has jumped through a window (while shut) broke the glass completly out and the landlord was outraged! (we almost got evicted) so we bought a big metal kennel/crate... which is located in our bathroom with the door shut. he has been in there while My boyfriend and I are at work for about 3 months now.he has attempted once to chew the metal and gotten out three times, so we has strapped ply wood around the cage on the sides and just propped peices for front and back...Most recently he has chewed the whole back of the kennel crate open and gotten out of the cage while we are at work injuring his paws and face.. and even scratching the wall behind the cage in the process GIVING HIM AWAY IS NOT AN OPTION but i have no idea what to do with im.I work nights so its hard to find a dog daycare...ANY IDEAS PLEASE HELP!!! b4 im evicted

About two weeks ago he was limping and behind the pad it appeared to be raw but it looked better and he stopped limping. Yesterday I noticed he was favoring it again and its raw again and the pad is about 20% peeled off.

There have been a few questions recently about how much should be paid for a dog. I've noticed that the prices some people think are normal, other people think are outrageous.

So I ask:

1. Where did you get your dog? (breeder? petstore? shelter? etc.)

2. What breed is your dog?

3. For what purpose did you get the dog? (pet? show? agility? obedience? hunting? working? etc.)

4. How much did you pay for the dog?

5. Do you think it was a fair price?

Feel free to additional details if you wish.

Please no "thumbs down" if you don't agree with where someone got their dog, some people prefer shelters, some people prefer breeders. This question isn't about your preference on where to get a dog at.

(A similar question was done on Dogster a while back, there were people who had both shelter or free dogs along with several-thousand dollar show dogs. So no one should look down on others just because they paid or didn't pay a certain amount for their dogs.)
