Depends on what kind.
Plain cows milk upsets dogs stomaches because it contains lactose. If you want to continue to give your dog milk, I recommended that you give him Lactaid milk, or goats milk.
Its also good to make sure that he has water available at all times.

I have 2 Border Terriers and have been giving them a small amount of milk most days over the past 6 months or so. It has not effected them at all. They alway have clean cold water available but seem to enjoy a little drop of milk when they can get it.

Yes, a dog should only have clean cool water. Milk is to rich for their stomach.

Dogs do not "need" milk to be healthy.... In fact cows milk can give them diarrhea.

Many dogs are lactose intolerant, and giving milk to them may cause diarrhea. There is really no gain in giving them milk, so it's probably best to avoid it.

It could give a dog loose stools if they aren't used to it.
I actually put powdered milk in my puppies' food & also in pregnant & lactating bitches food all the time.
There is no reason to give it to normal adult dogs - but it certainly wont hurt them.
