My dog blue wont stop her scratching and i think she may have fleas even after giving her a half hour flea shampoo and conditioner bath as soon as she is dried off and setteled down she starts her frantic scratching again....i also have 3 cats and 2 of them are always outside roaming the estate...the 3rd is too fat and lazy to go out...anyway..i found 2 HUGE fleas on the smallest of our 3 cats last week and i genly took them out of his fur and squashed them...i cant afford to take all the animals to the vets as they are quite alot of money when it comes to fleas...i tried vinegar on my dog once and that did get rid of the fleas for a while but it dried out her skin so she was scratching so bad it was making her sore...has anyone got any other ideas on helping my poochie and 3 kitties get rid of their fleas as well as using powder and sprays???...

Bathe all of them, add some Dawn Dish-washing detergent to the shampoo, it kills the fleas; doesn't dry out cat or dog skin much more than flea shampoo does.

If you're near by a military base the vet clinics are a lot cheaper there, if not you can go on petmeds.com and order capstar which is a pill that kills all the fleas that are a live and you can also buy advantiks, frontline and other flea products that you'd normally need to pay 40 almost 60 bucks for at a vet's office.

Buy the capstar for each of your pets and it will kill the fleas alive and go ahead and put the flea meds on your dog and make sure that they have not had a bath 2 days before or after applying it. and also make sure you spray your house, but more than likely if you did the above the fleas will die off soon.

P.S. DO NOT GIVE THE ANIMALS MORE BATHS...THE FLEAS ARE EATING THEM UP AND THE FLEA BATHS ARE SO STRONG IT'S PROBABLY BURNING YOUR PETS SKIN UP MORE WITH THE CHEMICALS

She started scratching right away after tha bath because she got reinfested, most likely. Flea shampoos don't work!

You need treatments that actually prevent as well as kill fleas, and you won't find any that work in a pet store. Go to a vets for some Frontline, for all your animals! You don't actually have to take the animals to a vets, you can buy it over the counter.

It won't get rid of them immediately but try garlic in your dogs diet it helps, as for your carpet and household furniture rid lice spray seems to work the best.
