We are hopefully going to breed our Champion Bouvier des Flanders female when she goes in season the end of the year.
The most important thing I look for in a Bouvier is movement. If they don't gait well, to me is telling me that they aren't put together all that well.
I'm leaning towards the name Crescendo Bouviers but I want everyone's imput.

And for those of you who think they want to blast me for wanting to breed my girl. Dont waste your energy. I will only breed her to a stud who compliments her faults and has gone through all the health testing. This is not going to be a "back yard breeding"

I cannot register it with AKC yet since they require the breeder to have produced 5 or more litters. We are just getting started and want to have a good name to build a reputation on.

I like Crescendo a lot -- it evokes the power and grace of a nice-moving Bouv. :)

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that it's easier to work with shorter kennel names, when it comes to registered names for dogs. My kennel name is 10 letters, and sometimes it's a pain to fit it into a registered name, especially if you co-own a dog and want both kennel names in there!

A lot of people base their kennel name on the name of their "foundation" dog, or a combination of their names. Choosing a name that is actually a common word can lead to identity problems down the road (you might run into someone else breeding Bouviers under "Crescendo", and neither of you knew the other existed)...however, since your breed isn't all that common, it may never be an issue.

Someone here on YA came up with a clever way to find out if anyone has or is using a kennel name you are thinking of. Go to AKC website and put your hoped for kennel name and the breed in AKC dog look-up. It will give you a list of all the dogs who's name start with that word and since 90% of the time the kennel name is first you then have a good idea if ANYONE has registered a dog with that prefix. Now that doesn't prevent someone from comming along later and using the prefix. Happened to friends of mine. You might want to check with breeds in the rest of the group too - usually not a problem if there is a Crescendo Bouviers and a Crescendo Yorkies but a crescendo Bouvier AND a crescendo bearded collie in groups might be a tad confusing
The length is an issue but sometimes you just HAVE to go with a longer than avg name because its right

Are you going to apply for an AKC registered Kennel name?

Good! I don't understand why it is a stipulation to produce 5 litters a year just to have a "registered" kennel name or have a male that has produced 40 litters in the past 10 yrs. With average litters of 8 (usually 10-12) that's over 320 pups. Personally, I feel that is promoting overbreeding and adding to the overpopulation of dogs in shelters & rescues.

Use something that reflects the breed, your last name or maybe even the area you are in. Good luck, and please make sure you do thorough health screening.

I like Crescendo. But then, mine is Soundtrack.

EDIT: Loki has a good point about the length, sometimes it's difficult to fit a name we like into the limited number of character spaces we have.

from a fellow breeder,
How about Night Dancer Kennels.
It would of been more helpful to know the area where you live but because of the dark color, and your being big on movement, it`s the best I can come up with.
Myself, I`m a breeder of FCR`s and Aussies.
Good Luck
