I read somewhere that giving your dog Vitamin C helps get beard stains out and also stops their urine from making brown spots on the lawn. Does this acutally work??

we're planning on picking up our male english mastiff next week. he will be six weeks old.

however, i am finding much conflict on the matter of how old a puppy can or should be before being adopted.
most say six weeks is a bit of a stretch.

can i permanently damage my dog by taking away two weeks from being with its littermates and mother?

Every time she is about to eat her food she first takes 2-3 pieces of it (no more, no less) into the living room and drops it on the floor. Then she goes and eats her food. Sometimes she'll go back and play with it (jump back and forth and bark at the 2-3 tiny pieces) and eventually eat it.Sometimes she just leaves it there. Like now, it's been there for 2 hours. What is up with that?!?

My dog recently spent 10 days in a kennel while I was away. He's been vaccinated for kennel cough about 2 months ago.

Since I picked him up he's been sneezing, gasping for air and sleeping almost all day. Very unlike him. He's also lost weight and I can now feel his bones when I pet him.

I'm getting worried each time I see him gasping for air. It's not a reversed sneeze thing I keep hearing about. It's like he's trying to breath so hard.

His eyes are covered with mucus and I have to keep cleaning them out.

My question is this. If he's been vaccinated for kennel cough, can he still get it? If not, what could this be?

My 6 months old cocker spaniel likes to eat the grass and leaves . I was told by some friends that means she is missing some nutrition from her diet. Is that true? Please share your knowledge and thoughts. Thanks

She had back surgery in March. She can't walk. She may have very little pain off and on. But she won't go to sleep at night . She whins for me to stay in the room with her. Herbs for her to rest easy? I know she probably sleeps while I am at work.

I find it funny when I go to someone's house and their dog gets vicious with me and constantly barks and growls at me they say oh it just doesn't like brown people or black people or well people of color. I find it funny since I have a dog and it is not like that and I am pretty sure dogs are not born racist.

"You can fool yourself all you want, but mandatory spay and neuter will not decrease shelter euthanasias, it increases them"

How does having fewer animals reproducing add to shelter euthanasia?

"The biggest contributor to the overpopulation issue (which is highly exaggerated by ARs such as yourself) is owner retention. You don't see millions of puppies in shelters, what you see are adults that have been released to the shelter for whatever reason. These dogs had a home, but for a reason only the previous owner only knows, were given to the shelter."

What's an AR? Responsible breeders who show and do genetic testing insist on taking their dogs back at anytime if the owner doesn't want them. Many ask for annual pics. Their dogs aren't in shelters- this guys may end up there down the road.

Couldn't copy the rest in to continue questioning you. People like me who adopt dogs from shelters are part of the solution not the problem. My baby will stay with me till the day he passes away.

She is a 2yr old Staffy/Husky cross, she is very pretty, kind of a bronze colour with black flecks and a white chest. She is called Jazz at the moment, but we have to change it as a neighbour is called Jazz, she hasn't had that name long and responds to anything, she is a rescue dog and the centre said its a good time to rename her. So far we have come up with Ruby, Foxy, Chelsea, Amber, none of which suit her, we need that name that just clicks, but so far nothing. We would prefer a two syllable name like suzie, baby, milo, that kind of thing as it is easier to train them, so please help us out, I will let you know what happens. Thanks.

I am getting a 12 wk old sheltie puppy Sunday and I can't wait!! Anyways both of his parents are 15 inches tall....is there a chance that he will get bigger then that? At what age are they full grown and when do they start getting their pretty fluffy coat? The lady I'm buying him from said that she's never had a oversized sheltie and I've never owned one. Thanks

We just got a puppy who is 8 weeks old. We know he had his first shots and I was wondering when he should get the second set and what does he need? I know they can't get a rabies until they are 6 months old, but what do they need?
