My female dog friend, after being an outdoor dog all her life, & not loved by her owners, has been escaping lately from her fenced in yard. I visit her daily & give her 3 milk-bones everyday for 10 yrs. & lots of hugs over the fence. Now, she's chained, choking , & miserable. Her neighbors love her too. Her owner says she's in heat.???

Ok, I live next to rental property and I'm my 3rd set of neighbors in a year(so I don't want to do anything drastic). Anyway I have asked them four times that I know of--to not bother my dog. I have caught them twice feeding her table scraps, which I do not feed her. The first time I just told them she doesn't need to eat that, but I caught them doing it again. She has been sick several times since they have lived there and I think it is something they have fed her. Also, when she was younger she bit at several people. I have "beware of dog" and "no tresspassing" signs and I have also warned them that she bites. That doesn't seem to mater to stupid people!!! What should I do now?? What if she bites one of them?? Will I be held responsible for my neighbor's stupidity??

Have you heard of the allegations surrounding Michael Vick the Atlanta Falcons quarterback and the dog-fights he’s been holding at his rural mansion.
He's accused of having executed eight dogs that didn't test well by ''hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground.''

4 years ago, I got in an accident and had to be in a full body cast for 2 monthes, i was 11 at that time and all I wanted was a dog, I did a lot of time reserching them and I wanted either an Aussie, or a Sheltie. Finally, after 6 monthes I could walk again and we found a sheltie breeder, but she was willing to give us her 6 month year old boy charlie, he was a show dog, but was too shy and skitish. of course i took him, but its been a rough road with him. he listens when he wants to listen, thats most likely why she gave him away. and its not a hearing problem, he just only does the tricks if hes in the mood or if i have a treat. and when we go outside for me to play with him, he only runs around and plays with my for about 5 minutes, then he runs off and plays by himself chasing a squrirel. people said that if i put in half the time i did with charlie into a different dog, he wouldlove me unconditonally. i found an austalian breeder, and im going to send in a deposit soon.

My Peke-Poo has separation anxiety from being locked in the garage and basically forgotten about by his previous owner. The classic case of cute as a tiny pup but got bigger than they wanted... in other words stupid humans! Anyway I've tried everything I can think of to cure this dog and nothing has worked. As soon as I go out the door he's howling like a banshee and when I come home he's pacing back and forth in his crate like a nutjob. He also pee's and poops in his crate despite the fact that I make him do his business several times before I leave. I ignore him until he calms down and then I let him out of the crate. I've tried leaving the light & the radio on but it doesn't seem to matter. I've even given him treats when he calms down but after a year his behavior has NOT improved! Is he just damaged for life or what?

I was running around cleaning my puppy's muddy footprints off the tiles and vacuuming her hair off the furniture ... and the dog was just lying there dozing and watching me through half-open eyes ... and I thought ... "How about you work for your living for once, you lazy lump?!!"

I reckon it would be good if I could hitch her up to the vacuum cleaner and train her to pull it round the house. 10 points to anyone who comes up with a better idea (then I'll patent it and get rich, lol!).

We have a 6 week old great dane puppy and we are feeding him Eagle Pack Holistic Select Large Breed puppy formula. It has lower protien so we thought that would be better for him. We were originally gonna go with Canidae all life stages but changed our mind at the last minute. He seems to not care for the stuff at all though. He was being fed the good cheap stuff before we got him. I was wondering if anybody who uses Canidae could tell me if it seems like a tasty dog food cuz this eagle pack stuff looks all dry and tastless. Thx

I heard dogs make people happier and even help the sick get healthy faster. Is this true? If so, what kind of dogs can help? My mom has been mildly depressed all her life, and I want to change that. I am there for her as much as I can be, but will a canine also help? Thanks.

we got a new dog and now he is acting like the leader of the pack over my over two dogs. any way he barks all the time and his dad ( owner ) wont stop him from barking ( he is 6 monthes ) and he bites people. then when he grows up and barks at every thing and bites people me and my sister are going to get blamed for it he is just going to say " he would not be like this if yall did not let me train him " but he does not train him. when my dad is not around and he barks i can get him to shut up so he gets some training he pops every where inside the house but pees outside. and i get blamed for it because when i take him out he only pees. he wont buy the barking collare because he does not want his dog to get zapped. SO IN OTHER WORDS WHAT CAN I DO TO STOP THIS BEHAVORE WITHOUT GETTING IN TROUBLE AND WHAT CAN I TELL MY DAD SO HE CAN GET THE POINT!?

Did you ever have someone walk in and practically demand cat/dog UNDER 8 weeks old?

Today I wanted to ring this lady's neck that came in. I volunteer at a mostly cat shelter (dogs get put into foster) and kittens are in foster care until 9 weeks old with their siblings. This lady came in and basically TOLD us what she wanted like she was buying a new purse. She was like 'I want a baby female, in black' .. are you serious?

I wanted to scream! Does she even know that its illegal in most states to give a person a cat/dog under 8 weeks!?!?

We have a beautiful 9 month old staffie in foster care that she could have looked at. Still a puppy. And we have almost 50 full grown cats walking around the shelter and we have 15-20 kittens 9 weeks and up that she could have got that were in the shelter when she came in.

Then people wonder why their dog/cat they cat at 6 weeks old doesnt listen, plays rough and bites all the time! Cause mom and littermates couldnt teach them the basics.

I think and after much research I am beginning to believe these fanatical raw feeders have many false logical statements. 1] they say don't feed kibble w/raw because different digestive rates. I ask Doesn't skin/bone/flesh digest at diff rates? They NEVER ANSWERED.
then they say Dogs are carnivores. BS I say, any wolf in the wild would eat pizza if it were available. OF COURSE. These raw feeding fanatics need to justify their position. By the way, I feed my dog raw, and raw chicken bones DO SPLINT!
