Your dog could be following a mole... this is most common.

If it is a larger one then it is because it is hot and ***mother nature*** says to dig into the earth and lay with the stomach in the hole to keep cool....

Holes in the yard are a hazard of dog ownership (smiles)

YOU should see under our deck... glad no one else can. teehee

Why do I feel you have a black Lab? They are just notorious for these kind of things. What I did for mine, all the same problems, Is got a steel dog run at a feed store. A little pricey but worth it ( she also ate out of a regular dog run) We put it on a pad we made with larger size bricks so she could not dig out. This has kept her in the yard. Mine would jump out also. When I was at work I was afraid she would get out and be hit be a car or become lost. I also couldn't leave her in the house because she would potty or destroy everything while I was gone. I tried everything and that's the only thing that was worked. She has a tarp on top for shade, toys, her house and blanket. When I come home we do go on a walk and play ball, so does get her exercises. Hope this helped or you find something that does work.

The best thing to do is kennel(crate) train her. You will need a kennel just a little larger than she is. She will need to stay in the kennel unless you are with her, either on a lead for a walk or in the outdoor kennel playing with you. This will help house break her, keep her from chewing up things and from digging holes. Wolf dogs have the natural instinct to dig to cool themselves. You may want to get her a child's swimming pool or a wash tub for her to play in. The chewing will eventually stop as she gets older. Till then keep her kenneled inside unless supervised, just like a young child would be. Good Luck with her, sounds as if she has a good home with all the trouble you are going through to keep her.

some dogs just naturally dig and find ways to get out. yorkies, for instance, were bred initially to go into mining tunnels and dig out the rats. so while theyre not doing that anymore, their instinct is to still dig holes and wiggle their way into things. do some research on your dogs breed and you can see where the behavior is coming from at least. then ask your vet for some suggestions as to how to change the behavior. if you go to your local pet store, they may be able to suggest something too, but be wary that theyre not just trying to sell you something. also, maybe invest in an invisible fence. you wont have to tie the dog up then or cage it and it wont go past the boundaries you set. they make invisible fence collars that vibrate in case youre against electrocuting your pooch.

even though you might not think she's bored, she's sure acting like it. she needs even more exercise. does she walk well on a leash? if she does take her for a jog in the morning and one in the evening too if you can. if not, train her to walk on a leash.

How old is she? my dog used to dig a lot when she was a puppy. she would dig really big holes, but it stopped when she got older. she's 2 now. she used to tear up stuff too when she was little, like her bed, plastic planters and toys. she's so much more mellow now. maybe it's just your dog's age? if it is you need patience and to catch her in the act when she's destroying something so you can tell her 'no!' she has to learn it's not ok to tear things up. it'll still take time for her to stop, but she'll learn. good luck!

Put up a large dog run for her. And that's the place to lock her up. Seriously she needs puppy training. Go to pets mart. Tell em about your problems. The trainers are well trained and will help you with her problems.
another thing put electrical fencing arround where you do not want to have her. It will not hurt the dog, but she will learn by the zip of the button that she can't do what she wants to do. Ask Pets mart. Good luck!

wolf hybrid still have some wild instinct, dogs in the wild dig dens and that's probably why she is digging, they don't like to be confined so that may be why she is acting out.

wow my dog is the same way..he brings stuf in and out the house and digs like 40 tunnels a day..my mother stop letting him run loose outside and jus tied him up.. so the best thing you could do for your dog is to buy a leash and tie her up.. im not sure wat its called but you out this cork peice in the ground and its this long very long cord that extends how ever long you want it to and she could run around in the lawn without her getting into things...or you could jus keep her inside and jus walk her 2-3 times a day.. wat ever floats your boat
