In my Opinion YES. The only dogs I have owned are Pits. My first pit (who I lost to cancer) would let kids jump on her, pull her ears, bit her nose. The only thing she didn't like was her feet to be touch and she would politely tuck them under her when they went for her feet. She LOVED TO TATTLE on the kids. Such as a kid getting into the toilet, boy she would beat feet it to where you were and bug ya until you went to see what she wanted.
My second Pit.....we she is a tom boy, she likes to play with the little boys because they like to get rough and tumble. When it comes to little girls, she lays on her back so they can dress her up (funny as all get out)

If you are not familiar with this breed then adding one to your family with a small child is not in the pup's best interest. Pit bulls are wonderful dogs, excellent companions and faithful to the death, but they require "gentle raising" and that can be difficult with a rambunctious 3 year old around. I would recommend a Lab or Golden Retriever. Much better suited for children, they are protective without usually being aggressive, very loyal, and love little ones.

I don't see a problem with it. Just make sure that you take you and your kid to meet to pit bull before you buy it. And I suggest either getting an older dog, or a young puppy. If you get a young puppy then you can teach it to be gentle very easily, ad older dogs are lazy but don't live as long. Good luck!!

Pit bulls can be wonderful dogs if raised by a responsible pet owner. I had three and never had a problem with them. They were the sweetest dogs I have ever owned. They are very protective though and you must be very consistent with their training.

A Golden Retriever is better, a Lab is OK. a Pit Bull is a very strong tough dog... so you will have to train it to play nicely.

The APBT is the greatest family dog there is. Mine loves everyone that comes to my house. She is ill mannered and jumps on everyone except children. She just wiggles around them. When my daughter brought my grandson over for the first time, a month old, she sat him on the floor in his carrier. My Pit went over to check him out and laid on the floor next to him. She stayed there for the next hour. She would not leave his side. Now when they come over, my grandson is now a year old, my daughter will sit with the baby in her lap. The Pit will go over and put her head in his hand and let him play with her ears while she licks his toes. They really are the "Nanny Dog".
You could not pick a greater dog for your child.

I don't think ANY dog is a good idea for a three year old. I am sure you will be the one caring for the dog, but never leave ANY dog alone with a toddler or small child. Please be careful! I would hate for you to get a pit, and little Timmy pulls himself up using the doggy's ears or tail, doggy snaps because it HURTS and we have yet another "vicious pittbull attacking a small child" Please, if you really want to get your little one a dog, remember you have to watch them at ALL TIMES (no matter what the breed you choose)

i love pit bulls. i have a pit bull border collie mix. he is the sweetest dog. they can be so gentle. if u train them right and raise them right they will be fine. dont listen to the things u hear on the news. they r just blowing smoke up ur ***. i think it would be fine. the dog and the kid would grow up together and learn to love each other.

Wait until the 3-year old is older before you get any dog. A big dog could knock him over with a swish of the tail.

Of course. Any dog is good for kids if you know how to be responsible. Never, never, never leave a child alone with any type of dog. Seek training for your new dog. And always put you child first. Teach your child the proper way to play with a dog.
