1. Wire or plastic dog crate for training.
2. Easily washable, hard-to-destroy bedding material, imitation sheepskin works well
3. Sturdy/ durable water and food bowls
4. Buckle puppy collar & lead; I like the soft braided nylon types.
5. ID Tag with your phone number to wear on the collar
6. A collection of high quality, safe chew toys: Puppy Nylabones, Puppy Kongs are also great and most dogs love them.
7. Grooming supplies specifically for yorkies. Ask groomer or breeder.
8. Check to see what food is already being fed and get a little of that so you can slowly transition to a new food. (if you want a new food that is) Otherwise you may have some stomach problems to deal with.
9. "Bitter Apple", a safe spray-on product to discourage chewing on inappropriate objects like wood paneling or chairs.
10. An enzyme cleaner for either carpets or hard floors because he will have accidents even if he's potty-trained.
11. A wire, wooden or plastic “baby gate” for blocking doorways.
12. A good book on puppy care & training. Read through them before bringing your puppy home.
13. Air freshner isn't a bad idea either.

Also make sure to get anything small enough to swallow out of the puppies reach and off the floor. They are just like children and will try to eat everything.

Consider getting a portable kennel for the dog to sleep in. A small dog - especially a small puppy - can be very intimidated by the bigness of the world around it, even within the confines of a house or apartment. It may seem cruel to lock your puppy up in the cage every night, but it is incredibly comforting to the puppy and will become his/her preferred place to sleep for the rest of it's life.

Besides, you'll need a way to transport him/her to the vet for shots, checkups, and illnesses.

Also consider some kind of barrier to keep the puppy isolated in one room or area during the day, to prevent the dog from peeing and pooing all over the house. You can get pieces of cage barrier that snap together to form the area in whatever size/shape you want. You can put down a sheet of linoleum where this area will be to protect the floor against the pee and poo stains. You can then place the kennel mentioned above in this area.

Also, because puppies do have accidents, pick up a bottle of Nature's Miracle. This is a solution with an enzyme that neutralizes pet urine. It also works on poo, vomit, and blood (and even red wine). Get the gallon bottle (about $25). You'll need it.
