This is for my son, his Science teacher gave them this question as a homework assignment.

Everyone does it. I walk to my bed before laying down... I dont float on the air to get there.

The circling action sets their spine into the proper curve for laying down with their tail up over their nose to protect it from surprise assaults on its nose [its most valuable organ]. It's usually in grass in the yard, but also on their pillow or bed in the house, or just the floor.

It is instinct. They do it in the wild not only to flatten the ground to sleep on but also to make sure the area is safe and free of any predators or anything dangerous. I hope I could help.

They use the sensitive (but tough) pads on their feet to determine whether there are any thorns or sharp rocks, etc in the place in whcih they want to sleep. Good Luck!

in the wild they had to make there own bed, they would find some nice grass and turnaround to flatten it out and sleep! :) Hope it helps ur son! :)

I think they're ttrying to get comfortable (if you're talking about when they kind of walk in a circle before they lay down).

They walk around in there beds so they can get comfortable.

its instinct- when in the wild they walked around in the grass to make a bed for themselves.
