I am getting a 12 wk old sheltie puppy Sunday and I can't wait!! Anyways both of his parents are 15 inches tall....is there a chance that he will get bigger then that? At what age are they full grown and when do they start getting their pretty fluffy coat? The lady I'm buying him from said that she's never had a oversized sheltie and I've never owned one. Thanks

You should know by time he is six months old. Then they start filling out. As far as coat goes, my breeder told me to get ShowStopper you can get it from http://www.an-nat.com My female is 10 months old now with a beautiful full coat. Remember the most important thing you can do with your Sheltie puppy is to socialize him. Shelties are the best, but they really need that at first that's what makes them so wonderful! I'm sure your breeder as told you all of this too. I don't think your guy will go oversize and AKC standard is 16 inches it's 13 to 16 so even if he goes a bit over 15 that's fine. I know you'll love yours as much as I love mine. Congrats!!!! All the best;~)

It will not get much bigger than the 15 inches. We have one that is 8 months old, and he is at his full size. The fluffy coat starts coming in after a month or two.

Congratulations. Yes, the puppy could grow larger than 15 inches. Full size at about 1 1/2 years.....coat usually gets fuller and denser every year. (It will get VERY scraggly looking about 4 months old,,,don't worry. And will shed to near nothing, probably, next summer..don't worry, just losing all it's puppy coat)

Oversize is over 16 inches.
No, its very very uncommon for offspring to be the average height of their two parents, so I dont think you have anything to worry about,

good site for you:

Be sure that he gets all four DHPP vaccinations and de-wrom him regularly! Good luck!!!!
