My family recently adoped a pound puppy that is a black lab/ St. Bernard. She is about 6 or seven months old and weighs about 40 lbs. She is loaded with energy and bites when she plays not to mention she is HUGE and still growing. The trouble is, my brother is having a baby due July 22nd! We are really exicted but we still want to keep the dog. She could easily kill a baby ,and that scares me, but I really want to find a way to calm her down. If worst comes to worse we could take her to an obedience school but we don't really have the funds with the baby coming and all. I actually dont know how much that costs. I apreciate any answers and thank you. [sorry if i spelled anythig wrong]

California Assembly Bill 1634, known as the California Healthy Pets Act, has been assigned to the Senate Business, Professions, and Economic Development Committee and the Senate Local Government Committee. The bill seeks to require the mandatory spaying or neutering of dogs or cats over four months of age, unless the owner acquires an intact animal permit.

I post this often to raise peoples awareess. This is the most important pet owners legislation to even be brought up. It could affect every American pet owner eventually!

my house is mainly carpet and it would have to be home alone from 10:30 am to 2:30 in the afternoon. i really want to get one but im afraid that the time would be too long to leave a dog unattended. i want a puppy but i know i should get an adult dog so it wont be too hard to train.

Everytime I wake up in the morning or have been gone for a bit, when my dog sees me, she will roll over and always want a belly rub.
Though she doesn't look like she's itcy on her stomach or anything. So why in the world does she do that? A friend of mine said it was a sign of trust. That right?

My fem. Doby puppy(3 mo.old) eats rocks. Her play area outside is a 1/2 acre of 85%rocks 10%grass and 5% dirt. I understand this is a serious problem. She has plenty of toys and chewies and gets lots of one on one time so I don't think that boredom is the issue. We tell her NO when she picks one up and she looks at us and swallows the rock, haha-not haha. We keep her on a leash all the time now but would like to be able to let her loose to run about on her own. Any sugg.'s other than a muzzle, elect. fence and taking out the rocks(not an option) Help!!! Thanks!! Anee thanks you 2, well not really...she loves her rocks.

i know there is no such thing as bad dogs only bad owners but i have 2 dogs. one is the sweetest dog you'll ever see. she is so eager to please and doesnt do anything she isnt suppose to. then i have another dog, she's a little monster. she doesnt care if she does wrong things she just tries not to get caught. she's really sneaky and she knows she's doing wrong she just doesnt care. i love them both the same they both have great personalities. im just wondering what makes some dogs bad? is it just her personality to be like that or did i do something wrong?

I have a 9 month old puggle her name is bubba and im confused wether to let her have a litter of pupies before she gets fixed?? She is part pug and part beagle i have heard that pugs have a hard time when they are pregnant. but my dog is also part beagle. does that give her a better chance of living through pregnancy? should I take a chance with my dog and let her have a litter or not risk it and not let her have puppies?
