My 1-year-old Yorkie-Poo (50% Yorkshire Terrier, 50% Poodle Mix) is a sweet puppy, some of the time. He loves human contact, being walked, being played with, and curling up next to you at night.

However, he is VERY aggressive when provoked -- even to family members he's closest to!

After barking incessantly around 3:00 AM, recently, I yelled "NO!" and tried to discourage him away from the window, at which point he growled, showed his teeth, and began lunging toward me and biting me.

^ Versions of this episode are happening *all the time*, close to 3 or 4 times EVERY DAY, and I am so frustrated! I love my dog, but he is an absolute nightmare of late.

~~~
My infant niece and toddler nephew are always here at our house, and I can't help but fear for their safety, now that he is so aggressive when... 1) reprimanded, 2) around food.
He does have a crate, but it's a huge task just trying to successfully get him in it, without being bitten beyond all belief.
HELP?!
I'm a cashier at a pet store and a little dog came through my line today. She was about the size of a chihuahua (I think she was almost a year old), but she had longer carmel-colored fur. Her ears were shaped like a chihuahua's as well. So imagine a chihuahua, but darker and furrier.
She was absolutely adorable and I would love to know what breed of dog she may have been. I asked her owner but I couldn't understand what she said because she had an accent and (silly me) I didn't ask her to repeat it.
Please help me if you can! Thank you so much!
My wife and I are lucky enough to have a wonderfully behaved and clever JRT pup (10 months). We have had very few incidents of destruction / chewing and virtualy have no concerns over leaving her free in the house while we are out. The problem is that she seems to be quite submissive and if I ever do have to be firm with her she seems to be devestated and will become incredibly timid and stressed for quite some time (hours to days). When I say firm I mean raising my voice and a firm look. (no hitting or grabbing at all!). We never have had reason to hit our rough house our pup but surely need to be firm with her when she does misbehave. Anytips for toughening her up? Between these bouts of self pity she seems to be a very happy and content puppy... Any advice appreciated... I thought JRTs were meant to have a bit more spunk...!!!
My dog, a labrador-ish thing, goes absolutely nuts when I start playing the piano. He howls as if it he was being tortured horribly. However, when I play a recording of a piano, he does not react.
Can anyone offer an explanation for this? I'm mystified.
I have a 10 year old yorkie male (5lbs) who is getting tired of eating his pescription food and treats. I would like to give him something beneficial and tasty but I am not sure how he would react to the ingredients like nuts. He really likes chinese fortune cookies and every once in a while we will reward him with a small taste.
I have 5 cats and 1 dog. My dog is a yorkie and she absolutely refuses to eat her dog food. It just sits there and goes to waste. I have tried tons and tons of different brands but she refuses. The only thing she will eat is meow mix! She loves it! Is it ok for her to be eating meow mix and nothing else?
All day and night my dog is itching and scratching at her paws and rubbing her back on things. She has these horrible skin allergies and I am trying to find a way to help her. Sometimes it sounds like she is in pain when itching and my parents think we should put her down as a lot of what we tried hasn't worked. This is a last ditch effort so anyone have any ideas as to what i can do to try and help her???
I haven't walked or played much with my border collie in a few days because I've been sick. I will probably be able to tomorrow or the next day, but in the meantime, he seems really bored. There are bones and toys and stuff all over but he doesn't like to play with them unless a person is playing too. I just feel bad for him.:(
Hi, following all your advice, I took my pup to the vet on Tuesday, he had blocked anal glands and the vet sqeezed them. He still scoots along the floor a little and seems to be in a little discomfort still, does anyone have any experience of this problem, would it be he's just a little sore or should i take him back to vet?
What would you do if you find a dog walking on the street with no human are in sight?
Today I found a stray puppy and I felt very bad for it, I didn't want it to get hit by car so I took him to the nearest vet. The vet staff said she will hold it for a week and see if the owner will come and pick it up if not they will call the animal control. I left my number to them so that they can give me update on that puppy. I am afraid the ACC will take it and put it to sleep. Did I do the right thing? I am willing to bring it home the problem is I already have 2 dog of my own afraid my husband will give me a fit about having another dog around the house.
My dogs eat on a round: Raw, Canned and Kibble. Their raw in Natures Variety and the Kibble and Canned is Merricks. Being that they are adults they only eat one full meal a day. But I am looking for some good treats for the morning and afternoon snack. We've tried many different things, but I haven't found one that they really like. Any Ideas!
I live near the woods and i have a small jack russel/beagle mix female, the other day i was petting her and noticed a small bug walking around on her paw, my first thought was crap a tick and rushed to get a tissue to pull it out.
when i got back to my dog the bug was gone so i did was i noramlly did and moved away her hair looking for the 'tick' whenever i found it, it moved quickly burrowing under her other hairs and i kept chasing it but couldnt get it out (it wasnt attached it just kept moving rather fastly)
so i went to get my father who saw it, said it wasnt a tick but didnt know what it was becuase it moved so fast, finally we got it off her but then it fell and we dont know where it went, my dad said to look up what bugs might live on dogs and move fast. so this is what it looked like, can anyone tel me what it was and if its dangerous
very small and oval shaped, light brown, very fast, NOT a tick, didnt have any visible legs of course it was very small though. please help
