I live near the woods and i have a small jack russel/beagle mix female, the other day i was petting her and noticed a small bug walking around on her paw, my first thought was crap a tick and rushed to get a tissue to pull it out.
when i got back to my dog the bug was gone so i did was i noramlly did and moved away her hair looking for the 'tick' whenever i found it, it moved quickly burrowing under her other hairs and i kept chasing it but couldnt get it out (it wasnt attached it just kept moving rather fastly)
so i went to get my father who saw it, said it wasnt a tick but didnt know what it was becuase it moved so fast, finally we got it off her but then it fell and we dont know where it went, my dad said to look up what bugs might live on dogs and move fast. so this is what it looked like, can anyone tel me what it was and if its dangerous
very small and oval shaped, light brown, very fast, NOT a tick, didnt have any visible legs of course it was very small though. please help

It's a flea. They're really bad this year. If she has one, she probably has more. Go to the vet and get some Frontline. Then you won't have to worry about ticks or fleas.

Fleas can be pretty large. Instead of worrying about what it was, just get some appropriate treatment from your vet - you can get treatments that cover all the bugs that can be dangerous to your dog. It may well just have been a type of beetle, which is harmless!

Fleas, ticks, mites, mosquitoes, worms and rarely flies are the only 'bugs' you need to worry about. Go to your vet and they will supply you with the appropriate treatment depending on what risks there are in your area. Don't bother wasting your money on the useless stuff from shops.

Sounds like a flea. Try giving your dog a nice flea repel bath to make sure there aren't any more crawling around, which im sure there are.

It was a Flea. They are so fast they look like the disappear at times. Get some flea shampoo and make sure you have a flea collar for your dog.

Flea? They can move FAST though they jump as well as run...
Flea and tick spray should "get" any insect on your pet.
