I haven't walked or played much with my border collie in a few days because I've been sick. I will probably be able to tomorrow or the next day, but in the meantime, he seems really bored. There are bones and toys and stuff all over but he doesn't like to play with them unless a person is playing too. I just feel bad for him.:(

aww i love these answers. and you all are right.. he has been right by my side the whole time, resting his head on me or just lying beside me. the fact that he's so great wants me to make him happy at all times, but he definitely acts happy just to be petted and talked to.
everyone has some great ideas, thank you.

Smart dog problems.
Even though your dog breed is the smartest dogs, probably smarter then me. They love to forgive you.
Believe me dogs are very resilient especially if you are home with them.
Your kind heart will be rewarded 100 time the next time you do walk him. Try and make it special for him too, extra treats a different toy you know what he likes.
Also exercise while you are sick isn't that bad for you. Google it or err Yahoo it I bet you will be surprised by what you find.
Well good luck on getting better and give the Puppy a nice rub on the tummy for me. :)

Fill your pockets with some treats and try some obedience tricks or games to occupy his mind.
Feel better soon.
ACK! Don't use a laser pointer. This can be maddening for a border collie!

I know you are sick now and probably dont want to go out so how about next time investing in toys that move on there own, the dog may like that.

I would certainly call a pet sitter to do this for me. If there is none, I bet your precious border collie is waiting patiently for you to get well and is not bored. As long as you talk to him some.

Dogs are said to be our best friends. Your dog feels what you feel thats why he is bored or some what lonely. Its like a bond between master and pet. The best thing to do is get well soon.

He feels bad for you! Animals pick up on how we feel. Just give him as much love and attention as you can while you are sick with out making yourself worse, and trust that when you are back to yourself, he will be too!

You need one of those laser pointers. My dog Bella loves them and they require minimal effort on my part. She will run after the laser for hours!!

ask a friend, relative, spouse or bf/gf take him to the park or somewhere where he can run around for a little while.
