Well, I think it kind of depends on if your dogs are inside or outside, my dogs are outside, A lab, a springer, a huskey, and a little doxen who has free entrance to our house from the pourch.
For my lab, springer, and huskey-- outside, we hooked up some misters that we can turn on and a good sized kiddie pool that they can get in. Of course-- my dogs love chewing so we put wood around the pool so they couldn't chew on the pool. we also built sheds that they can go into that has airconditioning.
For my Doxen-- Well, she doesn't have a chewing problem lucky so we put a small shallow kiddie pool in her fence and then she also has free access to our air conditioned house.
So as you can see, though, my dogs are quite spoiled....
we even let my 6 month old huskey come in the house at times as long as she doesn't chew on anything, because as you can imagine, with all that fur she gets pretty hot.

get a child's pool and put it under a tree so it is in the shade. Fill it with water and if the dogs want to lay in it they can. My dog hates to be wet. I think that is weird because dogs should always like water. if you allow them to be inside the house where it is air conditioned then let them in for awhile. make sure they always have plenty of fresh water and don't put them inside a hot vehicle. don't make them run at all either. keep them calm and relaxed so they don't overheat.
OH, AND MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO SMALL CHILDREN AROUND WHO COULD FALL INTO THE POOL!!!!

Make "Pupsicles!"
Get a big plastic container - a gallon milk jug cut down right at where the handle started at the bottom is fine
Cooked vegetables - big handful
Moist - not wet - dog food - big handful
Kibble - big handful
Put these in the Plastic container
Fill with broth - or just plain water
Freeze solid
Give to dogs on hot days. If you use the milk jug, you don't even have to remove the "Pupsicle" from the container.
My dog loves these.

I have my dog shaved about every 6 weeks when the weather starts warming up. Make sure they have plenty of shade & water. If you have outside outlets, you could also try putting a fan outside during the day. Also, I've seen people get a kid's hard plastic pool to fill w/water for their dogs to get in of they get too hot.

offer plenty of cold water. During the hotter part of the days keep them inside where its air conditioned, or in the shade if you dont have a/c. Try to encourage walks and exercize in early morning or late evening when its cooler outside. Some dogs enjoy playing in a kiddie pool.
a friend of mine makes some kind of cooler wraps that go around the neck.. you soak them in water and they stay cool for a while, as they dry you can soak them again. She makes them for people and dogs! rnic20@msn.com

If your dogs are outside and it is hot, you should bring them in. If you are not into doing this, then at least take them to a shaded area like the garage. Dogs can easily get heat strokes and die. Putting some ice cunks in their water bowl helps. Also, wetting their paw pads and stomach will cool them off quickly.

Misting with cool water is a good start. My dogs love to eat ice cubes and lay in front of the floor fan. We had to hold them in front of the fan a couple times for them to realize what it was - now when we come in from playing, they go to the fan and wait for us to turn it on. Wal-mart has a great toy - its a large, rubber dumbbell shape that you put water in and freeze. My dog loves this when he's hot - he'll throw it around the air, just hold it in his mouth or even lay on top of it to cool his belly.

I'm lucky to have some great off-leash parks in my area. Some have streams and my dog will lay down in the water. When she's all wet she runs around.
Good luck!
