I have a 9 month old puggle her name is bubba and im confused wether to let her have a litter of pupies before she gets fixed?? She is part pug and part beagle i have heard that pugs have a hard time when they are pregnant. but my dog is also part beagle. does that give her a better chance of living through pregnancy? should I take a chance with my dog and let her have a litter or not risk it and not let her have puppies?

The best choice is to just get your puppy spayed while she is still a puppy. But the choice is entirely up to you. if you want your dog to have a litter before she is fixed then that's fine. But you have to make sure she only has one litter of puppies not anymore. If you keep on breeding your puppy it can get sick hurt or worse. I would say getting it spayed would be the right choice.

Why on earth would you want your poor dog to have a litter??? Would you really want to take a chance on her getting sick just to deliver a litter of mixed breed pups that you will have to find good homes for?
There is NO reason for a dog to have a litter before spaying - none at all - that is a myth perpetuated by total ignorance.
Please have your little Bubba spayed, she will be much better off and certainly will not be missing anything. I hardly think she wants to go through a pregnancy, hard or easy, and deliver pups just out of curiosity to "experience" motherhood - dogs just don't think that way. Think of her health and happiness = get her spayed please.

I had this same discusion with my vet about wether I should allow my dog to have a litter before getting her fixed and he said that it doesn't do anything psycological to the animal if she is fixed before having any pups.

The big question is what would you do with all the pups? Keep them, Sell them or Give them away? There is an expense to having a pregnant dog as well as having to feed the many pups she could have.

1.she is too immature, she would need to be at least 2 years old. if you did breed her, are you able to be around her to make sure the momma feeds her puppies every 2 hours 24/7 and help take care of them?

its a big job, thats why we only bred my dog once, we even had to bottle feed 10 puppies every 2 hours.

you really need to do a lot of research before you think about it, but i wouldnt breed her because she is not a purebred. there are already to many mixed breed dogs in the animal shelters who cannot find homes. people pay a lot of money for purebreds and therefore take better care of them. sorry for being so blunt about it but its the truth.

You should have her spayed. Females don't need to have a litter before being spayed. She's not even a year old yet, so if you really wanted her to have a litter, you'd have to wait until she's at least two years old. I don't recommend you breed her because she is a mixed breed and can't offer anything to better the breeds. In my opinion, you should spay her asap.

NO! just have her spayed. A litter too early can actually affect her physical development. And there are really enough dogs around. In the US alone millions of dogs are euthanized every year because we can't give them homes. Why make more? It's better for YOUR dog just to spay her, and better for the others as well.

There's a high rate of complications in BOTH breeds. The smaller variety of beagle almost ALWAYS needs a C-section to deliver, and pugs usually do, too.(They cost about $1200.00 not counting post-natal care).
Why risk her life when she will lead a healthier happier one once she's spayed?

For the health of your dog please do not breed her. It sounds like you aren't experienced in dog breeding anyways... it's not a job you should take up casually.

Not to get all preachy... but take a visit to your local pound or animal shelter if you need help deciding. There are simply too many homeless and unwanted pets to consider bringing more puppies into the world.

If you know that the new born litter will have a loving home and family to take care of then go ahead. Be sure to visit the vet to aid her pregnancy. But if not, then i suggest you get it fix that will it will help ur pet to be healthy and less medicial problems in the long run. I have a site that tells you all about the good side about spaying and neutering your pet. I hope i helped! Good luck

You should spay her, it's hard on their little bodies to have a litter. She'll be a much healthier and happier dog by spaying her now. All the best;^)
