Hi I live in New Jersey right outside of philly and I was thinking about get a pet Chihuahua. Can anyone here on yahoo! recommend who I could possibly purchase one from. Thanks!
oh and your experience with being a Chihuahua owner too. Are they a good dog to have?

Please try the animal shelter nearest you. About one-third of the dogs in shelters are purebreds. You could also Google for a Chihuahua rescue group near you. Why not help out a dog or puppy that really needs a home rather than encouraging a breeder to breed more dogs when so many unwanted dogs get put to sleep every year? Be a hero: adopt.

Use their breeder referral network to help you find a responsible breeder, not someone who is just breeding because they can.

Chis are wonderful dogs, but they are very smart and stubborn. They will take over and run your household if you let them. You must be the strong pack leader (alpha), even with a small dog.
PLEASE do NOT buy a chihuahua........there are plenty of them available for adoption through rescue groups and shelters. They are being killed for lack of homes. Please save one of them rather than buying one.

yes I have two and they are adorable and they like kids too . they are one of the smartest breeds I have ever had . sometimes they can have emotional issues though . just be sure to socialize them alot too . good luck .
