regular dog food Think he needs it

You need to wean the dog back on to regular dog food slowly. Add a very small amount of dogfood (literally just a small spoon) to whatever food he is currently eating, and gradually increase that amount every day. If you do it gradually enough, hopefully your dog will be back on regular dog food without realising it!

It probably is important to get your dog back on dog food. Raw diets can work, but it's hard to get them right. You need to feed more than just muscle meat (i.e chicken breasts and steaks), they need offal too (organs like liver and kidneys) in order to get all their nutrients. This is basically what dogfood is (the high quality stuff anyway) - a mixture of all the different sorts of meats that they need.

He's probably enjoying the food you make :)

Try starting out by mixing a little dog food in his regular food, and over the course of a week or two, increase the amount until it's all dog food. He might turn his nose up at it a few times, but when he gets hungry enough, he'll eat it.

well first off, raw diets tend to spoil your dogs taste buds.... but really doesnt have all the nutrition they need. you might want to get a duck meal formula- dogs seem to not be able to resist the flavour of duck. i would also suggest mixing human food witht the dog food for a while, then decreasing the human food. or maybe mixing the dog food with wet food. id recomend eagle pack holistic select duck and oatmeal formula and mix it in with the puppy food.... or just try the puppy food its chicken!! they do have canned formula but for an extra temptation for the puppy merrick has some uberliscious canned food, ps both of the above comapnies were not part of the recall... and eagle pack contains none of the ingredient that were contaminated and gets all their ingredients from the united states- grown in the us....

My dogs dont have anythign but home cooked food and they are fine, heal;thy and happy and they also turn their noses up at comercial dog food. If you really want to get him on to eat 'regular dog food' (which is not always that good for them) try mixing a little in with what you make and gradually increase the quantity until he is only eating the food you want him to . Dogs eat based on smell so you need to change the smell he wants.

He will eat it eventually. It probably just doesn't taste as good as his home cooked meals he was getting. I would suggest mixing it with his dog food and slowly cutting back on the homemade dogfood...until he is just eating the new stuff. This will also help his tummy transition too...this is a big change do it slowly. Good luck.

That's because store bought dog food is disgusting. It is made from ingredients not fit for human consumption.I make a big batch and then freeze it in containers. Each batch last about 2 weeks.

You have to slowly introduce him to the new food, mix it with the old food, then slowly remove the old food until only the new food is left.
