I'm planning a camping trip for me and my dad and I was looking at the campsite information and it says "Dogs are allowed, but only on a leash." How would that work? I would love to take my dog, but it just doesn't seem to make sence, would the dog sleep in the tent with you, or what? How would it go to the toilet? You would have to take it absolutely everywhere with you because it has to be on it's leash all the time? Has anyone ever taken their dog dog camping and can explain it to me? How did it go?

This is a answer I posted on a friends question. I would like to share it, and ask a question if you dont agree, and I will gladly answer it for you on here. Just keep checking in for updates.

This is to all the people who say ear croppings is cruel,
Isnt spaying and neutering your dogs cruel? I mean its a good thing to have, and for a good reason, and so is cropping and docking.
With spaying and neutering you slice away their balls, and with girls, tear em open and strip away their uterus's. I know how that sounds but its the truth, even if its blunt , and I admit ear cropping can be made blunt by saying, Its chopping off their ears. But its not put that way, there is good reason for this to be done, and Im much too tired spewing it, so just trust me because i'll blow you out of the water. That goes for docking too.

People may say,"Well who the hell are you too make them the way you want? They are not your ears?"
-Yes they arnt, and they next time your dog pisses and craps all over your floor, remember its not your crap.
People may say," Its a huge painful operation, and the the dog will be in exurciating pain! And they ears are sliced off!!"
-Tell me how you feel if I rip off your balls and tear out your womb.
The truth is, They are put under, and on meds. And are kept extremly sanitary.
People may also say,"How would you feel if they cut off your ears??"
-Okay, god your all sooo retarted.
For one, dogs dont care what they hell their ears look like. People do, and in truth I would feel really bad. But 1, dogs dont care if they were pink and on fire. 2, How would you feel like if they cut of a peice of your penis when you were a baby? Oh yea, people do curcumsicion. But do you remeber or care? Do you cry to your mamma and say."WHY DIDYOU CUT IT OFF!! WHY!!!" no, you dont, you dont care if she left it on. Its just is, now imagine what dogs think stupid.
God, my dogs drink out of the toilet even though I piss in it, they care. They eat each others sh!t, they dont care.
"how would they feel"? Losers, I wish I could slap you. Next time ask your dog that when it needs is shots, operations, and neutered, if it would be painful.
Stop acting all hard core with the keyboard. Its like racing in the special olympics, even if you win, your still a retard.

Is it fine to feed my 6month old shih tzu pumpkin everyday? She was constipated earlier this week, so I gave her some pumpkin which has allowed her to poop again. I give her about 1/2-1 a cup daily. Though, I have noticed if I don't give her any pumpkin one day she cries when making a bowel movement as her poops are too hard and big. Should I just continue giving the pumpkin till everything goes back to normal?

Also, I feed my dog's Iams puppy... but today bought them some Canidae that I'm going to switch them to, as I want them to be on a high quality dog food... my dogs are 4 and 6months. So how do I go about switching them from a crap food to something high quality without it bothering them?

Thanks!

My dog is driving my family crazy! My dog leaves crud in the dinning room so we put him in the cage for being a bad boy but he still is doing it. When I tell him he's going outside he hides behind my moms chair. Then I go behind the chair to pick him up and he pees everywhere. So after he comes back in from going to the bathroom I tell him he's a bad boy then he goes and runs under my parents bed. The worst part is when someone rings the door bell he runs to the door barking. I yell at him and tell him NO!! But he doesn't listen. Please help me what should I do??

My baby is 22lb and about 1 year old- I doubt he'll ever get more than 25-30lb. I find the idea of huge dogs in an apartment kinda mean- and he's not a tiny toy dog- he's a beagle/daschund mix. I love walking him- so exercise isn't an issue- just claustrophobia :)

How big is too big for an apartment?

I have a dog who is suffering from cataracts and no longer can see. She on average has 8 more years to live and don't want her to spend them blind. I was wondering because the surgery to remove the cataracts cost $4,000 and I can't afford it me being a child & my parents don't have the money to just fork out 4 grand. Do you think people would be willing to give donations to help pay for her procedure if I set up a web-site?
I really love my dog and want her to be able to see and have fun in her last years of life.

Our dog sleeps with us at night. She is now almost a year old and for the first few months she slept in her crate. She let us know when she no longer wanted to go in it at night. I don't have a problem with her sleeping with us but someone on Yahoo answers last week said that it is not a good thing to let your dog sleep with you as it lessens you as the alpha dog.

My black lab dog always gets ticks when we bring her up to the glen to walk. She stays on the path, but she still gets them. And it's impossible to see them through her black fur, you just have to feel for them. She might get them from the backyard, too.

So anyway, I was wondering if there's anything you can do about it...like a tick repellent or something. Because a friend of mine who lives near me, their dog got a tick from their backyard and got lime disease and has to take some drug for it. I don't want mine to get it.

I have been reading some answers and it seems like a lot of people are buying different brands than this. I live in a rural area with mostly just grocery stores and a wal-mart. The nearest pet store is an hour away so it is hard to get a really special brand. Any better suggestions or should we stick w/ Purina?

What do breeders do with puppies that don't sell? Or is this an issue?

You can negotiate the price of a car, why not dogs?

For everyone who says go to the pound.....I know, and thank you for your advice.

My puppy is a Malchi (mix breed of maltese and chihuahua) and she is constantly biting. I offer chew toys but she ignores them--she prefers slippers and socks. When I try to take away whatever she's biting, she growls or attempts to bite. I try to re-direct her attention to another toy or even a treat but she goes back to whatever she was chewing so after. What now?

For those of you who know about breeding huskies and that they blow their coats out during pregnancy and nursing. I was just wondering if anyone knows of a way to help their coats grow back faster? It has been 1.5 Months since whelping. Her coat was completely blown out 1 week after whelping. Her coat has not tried to grow at all. I have been grooming her regularly and our vet says she's healthy as a horse. Any suggestions?
