I have been reading some answers and it seems like a lot of people are buying different brands than this. I live in a rural area with mostly just grocery stores and a wal-mart. The nearest pet store is an hour away so it is hard to get a really special brand. Any better suggestions or should we stick w/ Purina?

Purina puppy chow is a good food and it won't cause shedding or ear infections. I hope you find the right food for your dog. Purina has been around for a long time and I give my pet purina and I have been using it for a long time.

Purina One is a better choice if you are going to stick with a Purina food.
Food choices are very personal and everyone has a different opinion. If you are looking for easily accessible foods, it is always better to go with the premium food in any brand. With Purina this is their Purina One brand. Science Diet is also a highly recommended food. Iams and Eukanuba less so in recent years, but probably a reasonable choice given your situation.

Purina has come a long way in perfecting their dog food line. Puppy chow has all the vitamins and nutrients your dog will need for now. If it is a large breed pup start adult food at about 5 months of age.

Purina or any grocery store bought food does not have the nutrients that a dog needs to be healthy over many years. Its very cheap to make and contains yucky parts of animals and corn meal. Check the ingredients. Even if the drive is longer, make it for the sake of your precious pet.

Yes, it is fine. I feed my puppy Science Diet puppy small bites. If the food is specially formulated for puppies and you are feeding your puppy the recommended amount, then it is just fine. You still love your dog even if you don't buy the most expensive brand out there. If you are still concerned, you might ask your vet for a recommendation. Best wishes!

That's what we fed ours until she turned 1 year old. She liked the tender morsels kind cause it had the softer bits. I think it's a good kind, our lab didn't get too fat or thin on it... and she's a picky eater. We just switched to Maximum Nutrition... honestly though I think some people are a little too picky about what they feed their dogs. If your dog is heathy and you pick a good dog food, then stick with it. Dogs don't need variety like we do, one kind is what's best for them.

Puppy chow is kind of okay, but only if it's DRY! It can cause shedding and ear infections though. But not too bad!
