it's scooting. you can express his anal glands...you may also ask the vet or the groomer to do it.
but you can actually ask the vet to teach you.

other than that, give him fresh few baby carrots (maybe twice/ thrice a week), to harden his stools- which expressed the anal glands naturally. (The rationale is that increased stool volumes keep the glands "expressed" and reduce the likelihood of impaction and subsequent infection. )

This could be a number of things, Firstly you need to work out when he is dragging his bottom...is it before a poop or after a poop? If it is this is quite normal I have four dogs and all off then skid along the floor when they need a poop and almost every time after they have done one! The other thing could be worms, does he look bloated? his tummy a little bit rounder then it should be? take a look at his poops see if you can see any thread type things (though you wont often be able to see them) I would recommend worming, this can be quite cheaply done about £2 most for one tablet at your vets or you can get the worming tablets at a pet shop for quite cheap too, If you worm him it wont do any harm and you will know it defiantly isn't worms. the other thing could be his anal glands need emptying, signs for this are...biting his tail or biting his bottom (this is also a sign of worms) Is there a funny smell coming from his bottom? If you suspect anal glands your vet can empty them for you. Good luck and its good you came for advice hope you find the solution somewhere xxx

Contrary to popular belief scooting isn't usually a sign of worms..it is most often a sign of an anal sac problem. This needs to be addressed by your vet. Sometimes it is also caused by irritation from allergies, coming in contact with something that caused itching, fleas, bug bites, etc.

I know in my dog, it was an allergic reaction to something, probably flea bites. I have no idea what connection there is between a flea bite and scooting on the floor, but once I put some Frontline Plus on her, she stopped scooting.

could be worms, or anal glands may need looking at - ask your vet to have a look.

Could also be that he has a bit of poo stuck to his hair! Check his bum, and if it needs it, give it a clean.

This is called "scooting" and it means his anal gland are blocked. This is very painful for the dog so please take him to the vet or groomer who will "express" the anal glands and empty them. The dog will only be more miserable if you don't.

your dog has something wrong with it's anal glands, or sacs.

Could be an infection.

Do a "google" search for "dog anal gland" and you will get
lots and lots of places to look for information and treatment.
