We just got new dog. When our resident five month puppy met his new sister he was soooo happy. They were very excited. They played and licked each other and humped each other all night.

She was with our other dog for about 14 hrs before we found out that she has pnuemonia. (coughing, wheezing, loss of appetite, lethargy) They were very attached, so we took him along for the ride when we left her in the hospital. Yesterday he threw up in the car coming home alone. It is two days from the day of contact and he is looking a little peaky. And he is not as playful as usual-

He ate dinner last night and breakfast this morning. Could he be sick or just missing his new sister?

not a lot, but still. I have sprinkled baking soda all over my carpet to soak up odor and he ate some of it. He's 4.5 months old and weighs 25 lbs. Is this really harmful?

i have a shepherd husky mix that i got from an amish farm...it was kind of puppy mill ish...not quite but getting there. anyway the guy wasnt sure which of the 20 huskies was the father but the mother was def a pure shepherd. my dog is verrrrry stubborn and runs away every chance he gets hes a very weird dog always talking and by htat i mean howeling GROWLING or yipping but usally growling like an annoyed groany growl. i was watching show on animal planet called growing up wolf an as a puppy my dog acted Identically to the alfa pup in the wolf litter. he doesnt bite or anything hes just a really weird dog that does things normal dogs dont do and he has a very high prey drive. is it possible that his father was a wolf hybrid and the man didnt know i mean of those 20 huskies couldnt one of two of them been hybrids? i know hes not half because he has a blue eye...any opinions or people with wolf dog experiece with some insight?

My sister works at a golf course and she saw someone drop off an extremely skinny German Shephard. She called me about him and I am going to try to catch him today. How can I help him safely gain weight? What should I do with him? I already have 4 dogs so I will not be able to keep him.

Ok- we have an almost 7 month old puppy. We got him when he was 3 months old and obviously started potty traning right away. I got SO discouraged because he had so many accidents. We would go down, he would poop AND pee and then come straight up and have least one accident within 10 minutes. At that time we were going down at least every 30 minutes. He pooped and peed all over my house and it just reeked. I read every book out there, every article online and came here for any advice I could get. I was so stressed out about it. I knew he was a puppy and it takes time. Well, after long hard training he got the picture. He was doing MUCH better and rarely had accidents. I was so proud and felt it was finally paying off. All of the sudden, close to a month ago he started doing it ALL over again. He knows he isn't supposed to go inside. He poops in here at LEAST three times a day. He has even started EATING IT TO HIDE IT!!!! I just don't know what to do. He is ruining our place. ANY HELP???

Hi-

I am wondering about signs for first female heat. I know the commons ones are blood and enlarged vulva. My puppy, who is 5 months 1 week old, does not have any of those, but when I came home last night, there was a really bad and distinct smell. I think it was some sort of a secretion, but when I cleaned it, it didnt seem like blood. It was really clear, but it might have been blood. So does this mean she is going through her first heat?

Also, I have a male puppy which is 4 1/2 months old. Can he get her pregnant right now?

I know I should get her spayed, and I have made the appt for friday. I just want to know if they will be ok until then (it is really hard for me to seperate them).

I cut my beagles hair on his back very low. It was spur of the moment, and now I regret it. I was doing it thinking that it would let him reach his "itchy spot", and help him cool down. Now he's running around freaking out, and his coat looks horrible.

Is what I did bad for my dog?
How long will it take for it to grow back?
Should I just get his whole body groomed to even out where I cut his hair really low?
Any other suggestions, please

I have a male shih tzu, born november,2005. ever since he was a puppy he we have had to force him to eat. He was allways hyper, and was obsessed with squeaky toys and tupawear. Now the vet took blood and it came back normal. before that, he was throwing up daily or bi-daily, mostly foam/phlem. The vet put him on science diet i/d for sensitive stiomach (perscription) canned and hard food. now he stopped throwing up eating the canned, but he is less active. Everytime he eats the hard food he throws up. The vet said he can't stay on the soft food for much longer. What do you think?

My 6 month shepherd/boxer mix has had diarrhea for a couple of days. Nothing is different about him except he has to go outside every couple hours and his poop has the consictency of chocolate pudding. We gave him some pepto and that seemed to work and he seemed all better but last night he had to go out again with the runny poop. What could be the problem? He doesn't get into anything he's not supposed to. He's well supervised and when he can't be he goes in his cage. We feed him IAMS and only IAMS. We stopped giving him treats when the diarrhea started. We can't think of anything because he doesn't act sick. HELP!!!

my dog has a lump that has come up on the top of his back paw He doesn't seem to be in pain with it (still wants to go walkies, & lets me touch it) but he's at it, (licking, & biting it regularly) at 1 point he made it look pretty sore. I,ve been bathing it etc & its lookng a bit better but its not gone down any & if he gets chance (ie its not covered or i'm not watching, he's at it again) Any ideas what it could be or what i could do? I only want to go vets if i really must as he was ill treated so needs to be muzzeled & pinned down (trust me he's a nightmare at the vets)
