My 6 month shepherd/boxer mix has had diarrhea for a couple of days. Nothing is different about him except he has to go outside every couple hours and his poop has the consictency of chocolate pudding. We gave him some pepto and that seemed to work and he seemed all better but last night he had to go out again with the runny poop. What could be the problem? He doesn't get into anything he's not supposed to. He's well supervised and when he can't be he goes in his cage. We feed him IAMS and only IAMS. We stopped giving him treats when the diarrhea started. We can't think of anything because he doesn't act sick. HELP!!!

Try a food not so high in protein. IAMS gives everyone in my house the sh*ts.

I am a vet tech and forst off has your puppy been dewormed? Because worms can cause Diah. Second off instead of pepto try Kaopekted it works much better. Also just because he doesnt act sick doesnt mean he isnt sick. I would def. take him to the vet just to check. I would suggest a stool check just to make sure there is no worms and if there are it is really easy to treat. Also you could take your puppy;s tempature. Get a rectale thermature put a little KY jelly on the end and take his temp. Normal temp for dogs are 100.0 - 102.00 so you know if its above 102.0 there is def. a problem. But make sure you do the temp at a time where the dog hasnt been running around a getting his temp all up. I hope I helped!

Feed him boile chicken and rice for a couple of days, or Eucanuba "intestinal" food. Add some Canikur in it. If he doesn't get better after 2-3 days, go to the vet. even after the diarrhea stops, continue wiith the above diet for a week and then gradually introduce other foods.

IAMS. YUCH! That food is total garbage. Check out this link and you will see that Iams is crap. The ratings go from 1 to 6. 1 is the lowest rating, 6 is the best. Iams is rated 1. Try to find something that is higher rated than one to feed your dog.

You have to stop the diarrhea first before taking to a vet.So give him first aid.Try with a small dosages that are given to humans like Entroquinol tablets stc..I tried and it worked well for all my 3 dogs at times.

Animals have a very sensitive intestinal tracts, even though they can eat road side kill, they will respond to polluted water.
Gainesville, Fl had a history of giarddia (sp) in the public drinking water and many animals needed to be treated.
Your baby needs medication, so please get to the vet, he can become dehydrated easily.
Good Luck
