They all eat cat poo. I don't know why, it just happens. The good thing is since its already been digested by the cat, it shouldn't take long for your dog to release it.

Because it's a dog and they ALL just love to eat kitty krunchies! Go to your local vets, they have a powder that you can add to the cat's food and it makes the poo icky tasting to the dog.
One other thing is, we bought a $4.97 plastic container that had a snapping lid, cut a round hole in it big enough for the cat to go in. Now, you have to show the cat it's new way to get in it will only take once if you put a little amount of the dirty litter in it to start off. It worked like a charm and was much cheaper than the powder.
Good luck with the kitty krunchy issue!

Dogs are pretty gross sometimes but this is actually natural behaviour to them. It could be a way for them to get more nutrients that other animals expel, or to clear their territory so that it is only their scent that is dominant. Other animals like rabbits also eat their own poo. And hamsters often sleep in their own poo. It's disgusting to us, but pretty normal to them.
Apparantly feeding them courgettes can help, but I don't know if that is just an old wives tale.
Also remember that most dogs will pretty much eat anything! So poop scoffing is no exeption!

When my cat was a kitten, I had to has kitty littler box for her. I find out the same thing you did. I screamed because the dog is sleeping with me. I don't know what to do. I made a box around the litter box, and block my dog from go in there. My kitten(cat now) still be able to go in there to poop. Later I trained her to use a dogie door like my dogs. I think my cat covered her poop outside. If my dog is still eat the cat poop I have no where to know it. Yes, it is gross!!

Cat poo is high in protein, which dogs love. To your dog this is a treat. I know it sounds gross but remember dogs in their "wild" state are scavengers before being predators, so they will eat like a vulture if you let them. This is also why dogs get sick so much. They eat things they should leave alone.

Your dog must have eaten cat food before. Since there are remnants of cat food in the cat poo, you dog can smell it and thinks the poo is food.

All I can say about the matter is..They just like to eat it...Dogs usually like eating rotten and disgusting things, no wonder their breath is stinky poo...They must be lacking something in their diet, to be eating that stuff..My dogs do it to..If your cats are house bound and have litter pans keep them up off the floor..If they are ouside cats, there is really nothing you can do about it, except catch them in time..

There is more protein in a cat's diet than in a dogs. So the cat's fecal matter is more rich in fats and oils and the dog can smell that and sometimes might eat it. Not a good thing.

Hi,
I have 6 dogs and all six will eat Kitty Krunches if given the chance. It is not good for them for a number of reasons. Too much sugar. They can pass diseases and parasites to each other. Too much protein.
Stop your dog from going into the litter box if you can
Keep the litter clean!
