Yes, it can. Little puppies and kittens should not be overly handled by children. They will die if you bother them too much or play to rough. Their little brains will swell if they are jostled too much. It is a form of shaken baby syndrome just like in baby humans.

I think your uncle means after the puppy has just eaten. Like a human baby, a puppy can throw up if he is jostled around too much after a meal. Also, puppies need a lot of sleep, so if you keep waking him up by picking him up, he could get sick from not sleeping enough.

Picking the puppy up too much might be spoiling it, but it will not make the puppy sick.

It really can't, not seriously sick. But nautious yes. two reasons:
1) their baby ears are not fully developed, neither are their equilibriums, the part inside the ear that gives the brain a sense of direction and position on the ground. So when you lift them into the air what, to them, may seem five-stories in an instant, they get very dizzy.
2) baby stomachs, their outside abs and ribs are soft and their stomach organ is close to the outside of them, so if you pick them up in the middle and not under the butt and chest, you directly squish it, that would make anyone feel sick.

It can't, unless picking it up is so stressful that the pup's immune system becomes compromised and then it becomes ill. Not very likely, though. I think your uncle just is trying to make you leave the pup alone some more, which is important, too. Pups need to learn to be on their own or they will develop separation anxiety - very difficult to deal with.

Uh-huh. Note to self : ignore every single bit of 'advice' coming from uncle.
Then again, you do need to leave your puppy alone to do his thing from time to time. If you ignore your puppy's wishes to leave him and he begins to growl and snap, then you have pushed your puppy too far.
Take a class with a positive, reward-based method of teaching. Taking steps now to educate yourself about how dogs learn will hopefully save your ears from more of your uncle's 'help'. Good luck!

3 basics
1- don't handle a pup that just finished eating or drinking, (because how would you like to be pick up and moved around right after you eat)
2- be careful not to startled the pup... if you do it will become apprehensive
3 - don't let every body play with your pup, puppy immune system are not as strong as grown dog...
But do handle your pup, because it has to know you're in charge, and feel safe when with you.
Good luck

Maybe it makes him dizzy or he just doesn't like heights. Also, if he has just eaten it may upset his stomach when you hold him around his little baby tummy. Hope it helps!
