She absuluetly is terrified of our grandmother, she'll never even dream of touching her. She won't even take a treat from her hand when she loves treats. She won't even go to teens, she never goes to adults either. But for some reason she'll go right up to any kid she sees. We need some good advice, real answers only please. I don't want any answers like "why don't you just kill your dog?", or "why don't you sell the dog and buy a new one?", I don't want any answers like that.

While taking my puppy (6months shihtzu male) out for a quick walk today (it was raining, it was an area we usually go to), he suddenly started crying very loudly and high sound and ran from me. Using the leash I caught him and had to carry him home. He was very scared. When inside, he continued to be frightened and for a pup that doesnt like being a lap dog, he sure was one. At first we assumed something spooked him badly, but his back left leg seemed to be hurting him. I examined it as well as I can, and i didn't find anything, but it was definitely his paw that was hurt possibly the pads.

He is still scared and slightly limping. Any ideas on what it was and what we can do?

Thank you

He eats all of the time, every time he can. he is a big dog (unknown what breed). he had a buddy, Sassy, but she died. We got Rossco a new puppy but he still feels depressed. after he eats, he goes outside and throws it up. we have taken him to the vet, he gave us medicine, but it doesnt seem to help. we dont want to put him down because he is an awsome dog. He is about 6 years old.

The dog got an injured back leg all of a sudden, he is 5 years old, and now seems sick. the only reason i am really worried is becuase 2 of my friends dogs just both got really stiff and then passed away within a week of eachother. they were older but it is still kinda weird that it happened so close together. The vets didnt know what it was that hurt the other dogs. please help if u have any ideas

This isn't really a question per say, but a random thought that i wanted feedback on. i was attacked today by a dog at my job (i work in a doggie day care type facility), and i do mean full on lunging. i have the bites and bruises to prove it. It was however equally his and my fault...:). He is a biggish dog-say of 70 or so pounds. I was just wondering about when a "pit bull" mauls someone (NO this dog was not a pit bull he was a lab mix) to death that is in the 20-40 age range, I was trying to put my head around how that is possible. This dog was aiming for my face, so i grabbed hold of his cheek (i know i know, probably not the best move, that is how he got me) and held him until he calmed down. I did not panic. Do you feel that it is the reaction of the attacked (as i do) has as much to do with the outcome as the actual attack? Do you agree that teaching people at a young age how to deal with dog attacks would lessen the odds of a fatal attack?

my dog is leaning to the right and he can't move his neck to the left, what is wrong, he tries to move it, but he quickly turns it back as though in pain, he does everything normally, (eating, walking, etc.) he occasionally shivers and shakes, but that might be beacuse of the rain.

MY Mini schnauzer gave birth may 29th.? A rough birth.
The first came breach and i raced home as the dogsitter was reluctant to pull it out. It was the largest and died.i believe it suffocated The next two came no problem 25 min apart. On the 4th one it took two hours of pushing so i ran her to the vet and he pulled out the placentia from the one before. He considered a c-section when the next one came. So i took her home where she delivered 2 more. One thing is we kept having to help with the placentia. I took her and the 5 alive puppies in on the 3rd day friday to the vet and her temperture was normal. I had her feel to see if there were and dead puppies still in her. She said can only tell with a xray. I opted not to have one. See told me to monitor her . So far the mother is eating very well and seems to feel good. How long will it be before she got sick/toxic effects of dead puppy inside her. I opted not for a xray because she is eating normal and seems to be feeling good.????

I noticed the bump about a week or so ago but it was nothing major. He has a scar down the center of his tummy where he had to have surgery from being mischevious and eating parts of a towel. I thought it was something to do with that because it is in the middle of the scar. However, it has been quite some time since his surgery. This morning I noticed the bump had gotten much much bigger. It feels like a hard grape under his skin. I will take him to the vet Monday, but I just worry! Has anyone experienced this or have any advice?

I have a 4 month old cocker spaniel. He is less interested in his food the last 3 or 4 days. He is active and peeing and pooping and overall seems fine. He did throw up some yellow liquid yesterday. Always before he could hardly wait to eat and gobbled it up right away. Now he just sniffs it and walks away and later eats it. I fed him this morning and he finally ate it. Now it's 7:00 p.m. and he doesn't seem interested in eating again. I feed him Iams puppy food and that's all I've ever given him. He gets no people food at all.
Is this just a phase? He does have an appt. with the vet on Monday, so I'm glad about that. I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.
It's just wierd that he was so excited to eat before and eat fast and now he can take it or leave it.

I'm curious as to which dogs you hate to groom the most due to typical attitude and coat type? I don't like Schnauzers, Cockers, Goldendoodles & Maltese. Also, do you work at petco/petsmart or a private shop? I work in a private business.

The picture in my id is of my lil puppy, 17 week ol husky Butterball, he has just recovered from parvo and I am now terribly anxious and concerned when it comes to anything regarding him, its now been 10 days since he came from the hospital, my regular vet told me to bring him in this coming wednesday for his next doseof vaccination, today is saturday, however, his ICU vet in the 24 hr hospital where he stayed told me not to have him vaccinated until 4 weeks passed, I am now really confused as to when to have him vaccinated? he has had 2 shots of vaccination already and this would be his third, but since he just recovered, i am really anxious about exposing him to any kind of virus again, to add to this i get 2 conflicting advises from 2 vets, can somebody please tell me when i should take him for his next shot? please dont ask me to confer with the vet, as you can see, they themselves are conflicting in their opinions, i need some really sound advice from somebody experienced?

Hi everyone...

Here's the deal...my boyfriend and I adopted a beagle about 5 months ago. He's a great dog when we're home, but when we leave he barks incessantly and even worse, he is passive agressive with other dogs. Sometimes he'll just stand there and let himself get sniffed, but most of the time he bares his teeth and goes after the other dog (for NO apparent reason). He does this on walks and at doggie daycare. He is walked 2-3 times per day and he is trained pretty well otherwise. Any suggestions about how to build his confidence so he doesn't snap at any dogs?!

Also...we've tried leaving for very short periods of time and coming right back, just to try to get him used to being alone...didn't work so well. We know he has seperation anxiety and probably lack of confidence...I just don't know how to fix it. Thanks!

My 12 yr old White West Highland Terrier had to be put asleep for getting deadly sick maybe about a month ago, but I'm still so sad. We had her for so long and I think that's why I can't stop but think about her. Some people think "oh it's just a dog", but she was like a friend to me, and sometimes I think I can still hear her little feet clicking on the floor when I come home, and it drives me nuts! Is there anything I can do to foget about it? =(
