We got a German Shepherd and she treats our cats with so much respect. Never goes near them at all. Is Very Loyal and Super Friendly :)
Make sure whichever dog you get it's a baby (at least 4 months) and the cats are already with you.

Any dog can be good with cats, if properly obedience trained. It is really just that simple. I know you are looking for something off the shelf that doesn't need to be socialized and obedience trained. If you want a really good pet, a safe one, one that can be trusted around, cats and the most rambunctious kid, then then you have to work at it. Excellent dogs are made not born.

I know of several people that owned Golden Retreivers including myself. To my knowledge they are the most loveing to other criters including cats and my grand children.

My golden retriever is great with our cat and mini-pincher. Goldens are really sweet dogs who enjoy other animals and people of all ages.

golden retriever or a golden/lab mix (wh/ is what i have). you get the best of both worlds.
great temperament, loyal, and does great with other animals (even cats)

it doesnt depend on breed it depends on the dogs personality, your best bet is to get a puppy and introduce it to the cat when the puppy is very young

get a golden retriever. they are very good with other animals including cats.

Any puppy you get will grow up with cats and love them.I've had all breds and my oldest cat trains them to respect and obey!
