While taking my puppy (6months shihtzu male) out for a quick walk today (it was raining, it was an area we usually go to), he suddenly started crying very loudly and high sound and ran from me. Using the leash I caught him and had to carry him home. He was very scared. When inside, he continued to be frightened and for a pup that doesnt like being a lap dog, he sure was one. At first we assumed something spooked him badly, but his back left leg seemed to be hurting him. I examined it as well as I can, and i didn't find anything, but it was definitely his paw that was hurt possibly the pads.

He is still scared and slightly limping. Any ideas on what it was and what we can do?

Thank you

Please take your dog to a vet. He is your responsibility now and you need to take care of him.

If you were there with him and have no clue what it was, how can we?
You have 2 choices:
1. Do nothing and continue to let him be in pain and limp.
2. Take him to a veterinarian.

He might have been stung by a bee or something. It can be hard to see a sting or bite on his furry feet. Try to get him to let you gently look real well. If it is a sting, it should go away on its own in a few hours. If not, a vet check is in order.
