you are not going to be able to house break a 4wk old puppy. but here is the real question why is this puppy not with its morther? puppies should not be leaving there home till they are atleast 8-9wks old.

One month old is too young to be away from its mother. That puppy should just now be starting to be weaned let alone trying to control its bladder. At that age puppies are vulnerable to everything so, the puppy staying inside is a very good idea. I do not let my puppies outdoors until they are at least 6-8 weeks and they come right back inside. You need to find someone with puppies the same age so that the puppy can learn more about being a puppy from the litter. I would not go back to the breeder though. If they gave you this dog at that age then they would probably turn around and sell the puppy to someone else right away. You should be more worried about the puppy’s health and well being right now rather than your carpet. You may ever want to try giving your puppy some puppy formula in between meals to help its immune system. You'll be lucky if the puppy stays healthy with out its mother. Check out the link below for more ideas as to how your puppy should be growing up.

If you think you may not have enough time to care for him as things are, and it might be better to get a him new home while he is still young. But if you want to house train him the only and surest way is to take him out for a walk every four hours. I mean day and night! (This will be good practice for having a baby!) It's what I have always done and my dogs have never had an adult incident of that sort. :) Also I suggest only positive enforcement. When he is bad ignore him, but when he pees outside, act all excited and rave about what a good dog he is! Good luck!

Puppies do not even start to have bladder control until they're 12-14 weeks old so a month old puppy has zero control. They are very much like having an infant. A human child doesn't have control until they're 2+ years old. Read up on crate training and realize that only consistency and positive reinforcement will help your puppy become housebroken. You cannot hurry up or force the issue with a puppy any more than you can with a human baby.

First of all why do you have a four week old puppy? That pup should still be with the mother. The puppy is just leaning about life and much too young to be living with you. Please put the puppy in a safe place and not let it run around your home. If you are able to take the pup back to the mother that would be best for another 3 to 4 weeks.....

Puppies don't have any control over themselves until they are AT LEAST 4 months old.
They don't "get it" about potty training until 6 months.

You have a long road ahead. Stop getting mad and clean it up. You shouldn't have a pup that young anyway.

The entire first YEAR of a pup's life is labor intensive and difficult.
With a baby on the way, honey, you have long days (and nights) and lots of poop to look forward to.

Cheers.

one month old? i hope you have the parents of the pup too ... cuz they're not suppose to go to new homes until 6 weeks. I hand raised two corgi pups - I kept them in an area where they did not have full access to the house - Tiles are easy to clean up - When i let them out onto hardwood and carpet they are supervised at all times. take the pup out to poo and pee whenever they wake up - even small naps. Also after they eat. Just take them out whenever you see them sniffing and walking around in a circle. You really gotta keep him in one area until he's a bit older so your house doesn't smell like a Kennel.

What replaced into the situation that triggered you to undertake a one month previous puppy? the guy that offered her to you is so out of line you will desire to take her returned, 3 to 4 months is the appropriate time to take her returned.... so which you would be able to no longer deliver her returned! flow to you're community puppy keep and get some puppy milk and make effective she remains heat... And get a canines care e book and seek the internet for extra issues you're able to do! you're ca would be high quality they act like that when a knew puppy comes into the homestead.

I wouldn't be putting a 1 month old pup outside. A Pup shouldn't leave it's mother until it is 8 weeks old. A one month old pup is to young to get shots ( not until 6 weeks) and letting it outside you are asking for parvo and otehr diseases.
Also a pup doesnot get full control until about 6 months old.
teh pup should be kept in a crate when you can't watchhim. get a good book on house training. But the pup should not be allowed outside until it gets its first set of shots and then about a week later as teh shots don't take immediate protection.

At one month old they're too young for potty training...they have no sphincter control and are not aware when they have to go, they just do it when the urge hits. You can start when they're 8-12 weeks but expect accidents. Is it separated from it's mother already? If so, that's way too young and not healthy for the pup.
