Okay lets say __________ (insert your dog's name) breed was suddenly banned in your town. what would you do? Do you move, do you put your dog down, give him away? I ran accross this link awhile back and it got me to thinking.

What would you do?

as a result, they try to eat what our adult dogs eat...we tried to give them milk supplements but it seems this is not enough. when i gave them puppy food, they cleaned the feeding bowl in an instant...

is it ok for them to eat solid food now?or should i stick with the 'milk only' scheme?

usually, how old should they be bathe?i heard it is not ok to bathe them when they are still so young?is this true?

most of .the articles I've read say that puppy will need to go wee after drinking (eating, nap etc ). aren't I making it difficult for puppy to NOT wee in the crate if she has water there?
should I only let her drink when she is supervised out of the crate?

puppy is 10 weeks old

ps thank you to everyone who answers this question or answered my previous questions

All three of my dogs are on Frontline for fleas...Those are my only pets...It hasnt been a month yet since Ive put the treatment on them (I was told to put it on every month) and 2 of them are already scratching and have fleas. Is there something else I should be doing? Should I start applying the Frontline more than once a month?

Aside obviously from waiting till she gets fatter. Is there any early detection method? And it doesn't matter enough to warrant paying for an ultrasound, she either is or isn't. Just wondering if there was a simply way of telling??

I have a Mini Fox Terrier (Jack Russel x Chihuaua) and she eats cooked chicken bones. A lot of people have told me that its bad for her and that the bone could splinter inside her. Others have told me that because she is breed for hunting, she can eat cooked bones and one vet on the radio said that it was harmless. I don't know what to believe!

This is probably a silly question but maybe some of you out there have some tips. I've had dogs all my life but not long ago we got this sheltie puppy who is now about 5 months old. She is very good and is house trained but the only issue is that she never wants to come in the house when she is supposed to. We are trying to get her in out of the heat or if we have to leave and she just won't come in. It's almost like she is playing a game with us because she'll walk right up to the entry, look at you, but as soon as you walk near the door she runs back down the stairs. We will even walk away and leave the door open hoping she'll come in on her own but sometimes she will just stand at the entry for 10 minutes and not move. We've tried enticing her with treats, by bringing our other dog out. We've gotten forceful with her and kind to her and either way she won't come in till she's good and ready. If you go outside and try to catch her, she runs like a mad woman. Any suggestions?

my husband and I like to ocasionally take a drink in the evenings on our balcony.
We often leave the glasses outside till the next morning, not having finnished our last drink. I never thought about the fact that the glasses were always empty in the morning but the other day I saw our dog carefully licking the last of the scotch out of the glasses .
He is old with an arthritis hip should I stop him or does that little bit of scotch do him good?

Ps dingoes are very smart the reason I didnt notice earlier is because he was careful not to move the glasses. This has probably been going on for about 1 year.

How many have have actually had an encounter with an agressive pitbull? As an animal control officer, I can honestly say I have had very few. In fact , if you ask an ACO what type of dog they watch out for, it's usually a Chow (mix) or Shar-pei (mix). The reason pitbulls make the news is because they make good news. Any bite from a bully breed will invariably be worse than a breed that was bred for, say, herding. most pitbulls are also owned by those on the lower socio-econic scale, so it also gives the media a chance to highlight this. One final thing for you PETA types. Ingrid Newkirk herself wants the breed to be done away with. Hardly "ethical", is it?

Would a dog have the cognitive ability to learn a game such as blackjack or even be able to memorize patterns in such a way that it could play. I understand that the dog probably could not learn how to count or reason with strategy I am just wondering if you could teach him to hit or stay.

My mom is realtor and she was having an open house at one of the houses she is trying to sell today and i went with her. i went outside to see the backyard, and i saw a small cage [a little smaller than the size of a walk-in closet]. inside the cage there was a beagle. all he had was a little cage thing with blankets in it to sleep in..and a water and food dish that was completley emtpy. i asked the two sons [they are about 21 years old and still live at home] why the dog was in the cage and they said that it did not get along with their other dog. when i went to go back inside the dog started whimpering and crying..and i felt so bad. the beagle didnt look hurt, but he didnt look like he had ever been played with. is this animal abuse?

also..i live in NJ

Just last night, and throughout the day today, I have had some big time problems with my dog. She is a 9 year-old female, she's a Golden Retriever. She is a bit overweight for her body size.

Symptoms:
-Loss of sight - This is a bit inconsistant. At times she will run into things, but at times she will know where she is going. I have researched this, and have found that cataracts can occur extrememly quick without insulin. ( At times, she can see the color red)
-Lethargic - She doesn't really want to interact with anyone. She will come at times, wanting to be stroked. She basically has just been laying around.
-Loss of appetite - Hasn't eaten anything over the past 1 and a half days. She will drink a bit of water, but I will need to personally give it to her from my hand.

The vets in my area are closed this weekend and have pointed me to an animal hospital and hour away. I want to know if I can wait, and if I can, what do I feed her, do for her, etc.

Thanks for all help!
