Alright, I have a friend that lives in Beloit who is witnessing a case of animal abuse. Across the street from her live two high school dropouts, and they have a dog. The dog has sores on his feet, major fleas, and he stays outside for hours at a time, no leash or anything.

My friend's family has called animal control several times, and they've taken the dog away. But the dog always gets returned to its owners. My friend has offered to watch him for the day, and their to her offer was "Oh, we'll bring him by, thanks." But they never do.

My friend is utterly confused and scared for the dog, as I am. What do we do?

Vics latest statement, on his dog abuse charges: "It don't matter what I did, or what i do....people always gonna love me anyway". So he thinks he's above the law; because he is famous? because he is rich? or because he is black?
Before u think of pulling the race card. No I am not a racist, I am on Vics' case only because he is a cowardly and ignorant animal abuser. Especially would like to hear from black people interested in justice, not in rationalizing vics' cruelty.

Our good friend is a serious-hobby breeder. Has a DNA certified Boxer Female and a DNA certified Mastiff female.
This years litter of boxers were born on my 30th birthday, and I am finally getting a boxer pup when they are ready. ( I have wanted one for years )
Anyway, I have already chosen my pup and have been going over daily to help out and learn about the breed.
I have a few questions that I have not been able to get suitably answered.
( They have nothing to do with my pup, but about the breed standards and history in general )
I am curious to know why they have such limited color standards for show and do not accept boxers that are solid white, more than 1/3 white, or black. All the sites I have searched do not give any reason for this.

** More questions to follow soon...

My older dog(female, spayed) is intimidated by my new (intact) male puppy! She walks around with her tail inbetween her legs and is very uptight - in other words, completely different than usual. The puppy doesn't even do much, except occasionally trying to wrestle with her, which is pretty normal for a puppy. It's been almost a week since I got him. Does this mean she, the older dog, is never going to get use to him?
And is there anyway to get her back to her usual self?

I am getting a new puppy and in the past, it was always that you use the newspaper technique to teach them potty training, it was never crates....... Any suggestions? It seams like a "trend" these days. I've only done the newspaper.

Hi, I just got a puppy today (mom is a beagle, unknown what dad is) she looks like a beagle (ears, and build) but has the color/markings of a Rot, Doshund, or Pincer. So I'm not sure what the dad was.
Anyway, he said that the pups were 3 months old, and I know I have to get her shots. About how much will it cost me for all the shots she will need?
Also, is it normal for her to cry everytime I get up and not be holding her? Everytime I sit down, she crawls into my lap and sleeps. Is this just a phase since she was just taken from her mom/litter mates??

He either must have something wrong with him or maybe this is how they all are, but when he goes pee he pees on his front leg because his stream is so long. Well this gets old really quick, what I mean is bringing him inside and cleaning his right front paw before he can run around the house. Try doing this 5 times a day. Anyway so when I take him outside I hold his ....area....pointing down so it doesnt get on him. I can just imagine what the people walking around are thinking....but what else should I do??? ok try to stop laughing enough to type a good answer....=-)

He is inside the house most of the time but when he is outside he is allfully hot. He loves to be outdoors but the heat is hard on him. I've heard of people shaving them but didn't know if it was advisable.

She's been eating homemade food for about a month or so now.. before she wasn't so gassy, and she was eating Dick Van Patten's Eatables. Now she eats plain chicken or plain beef, sometimes mixed with veggies and potato, and a Pet Tab (dog vitamin). What the heck?! Lol. She farts ALL the time, even if she doesn't have to poo. She's a 2 year old Bichon Poo, by the way.

It appears that he is not getting inside her. He is shorter than she is and it has happened a couple times that once he gets off her his penis is still extened out. Has he mated with her or is he missing.

Okay, here's the situation.. I bought a puppy for $300.00.. My boyfriend wanted me to get rid of it because it was a small dog and was very needy and attention hogging.. So I told my friend about it and she knows this other girl who happens to have two more of the same kind of dog, so the other girl bought my puppy for $300.00, so I did make all of my money back.. Well, now I am regretting it SOOOOOOO much!!!!!!! I wan't my puppy back SO bad, and my boyfriend said fine, if I can get the girl to give it back to me, then I can keep it.. I was thinking of asking my friend who sold the dog to her friend for me, to ask her friend if she would sell the dog back to me for $500.00 or $600.00. Do you guys think this will work??? Do you guys think that this is an okay thing for me to try and do??? And what are my chances of getting her to say yes!?!?!? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!! I REALLY want my puppy back, and i am never listening to my boyfriend again when I have a gut feeling!!!! Thanks..

This question is for you that train and show dogs in AKC obedience. What type of collar and lead do you use in training and in the show ring? What type of dog is this that you are showing in obedience. There seems to be so many people that do not like using choke collars at all, and suggest halti's or gentle leaders. That might be fine for the general person to use, but for you people suggesting this, you CAN NOT use Halti's, Gentle leaders or Pinch collars in the show ring. I use chokes on my German Shepherds from about 6 to 7 months of age for training AKC obedience. Almost all dogs at our obedience club are trained with chokers from Basic class through Utility. Chokes are permitted in the AKC obedience ring and show chokes are used with some breeds in the AKC conformation ring. If a choke is used correctly, by an experienced person, they are a very effective training tool. So what do you use with what breed while training for and showing in the AKC obedience ring? Leads too

I just had two puppies die of parvo in 4 days. The first one I found dead and the second one I found sick and brought her in the house and put her down on a blanket. Should I be worried about catching it? Should I be worried about my 3 year old catching it? I disinfected everything with bleach, then sprayed it with lysol where she layed and died, is my full grown dog safe for me to bring him back inside? He isn't where the other two were so I hope he is okay outside.

I saw a Labrador give birth and (forgive my ignorance) there was no umbilical cord cutting involved. Yet, I kept a puppy and he has what looks like a belly button. This may sound stupid to some, but I know nothing about the pregnancy process in animals and I'm honestly curious.

It's almost time, but I'm having a tough time making up my mind. It was explained to me at Banfield I think it's called that he wouldn't raise his leg to pee, wouldn't hump visitor's legs, and wouldn't try to wander as much.

Not sure what to think about him raising his leg to pee, because I don't have him properly trained, just put out the training pads which he normally uses. But I don't have many visitors, and even when I let him outside, it's in a fenced in area. I have a date set to have it done, it's already paid for, but I'm having second thoughts, as you can see. He could be registered, if I wanted to. I have the papers, but that isn't important to me right now. Any logical yet sensitive advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

First of I have 2 males and my 1 almost 1yr old female chi's. Maryjane went through her first heat almost 4 months now. She never mothered any toys or acted like this. She will carry these 2 old toys of thiers everywhere. Especially at bedtime, she'll take one and put it in our bed and go get the other one and start whining because she can't find a good hiding place. If you make it squeek she crys and she squeeks it and crys. I don't understand this. She's never acted like this before. Is this a sign that she's going back into heat? Do they go into heat every 4 months? I really need a dog whisperer because she seems so nutty now and I don't know what to do!!!
