We just recently got a new puppy about 7 months ago. WE also have another older dog and he did the same thing. You have to introduce them slowly for short periods of time. Make sure you feed them in seperate places as well. We have had problems with this. Give them time, they are just trying to figure out the barking order so to speak. Getting them fixed will not change anything. My older dog is fixed and the puppy is not and we still have a few problems but it gets better. Lots of Patience....Good Luck..

I have 2 Yorkies, both females. ONe is 11 yrs old and the other is 3. When we got the "baby" the older one was not a happy camper. But after awhile they started to get along. But males are different. The older one wants to be the Alpha dog (dominant one). They should both be neutered or they might not ever get along. Keep a jar or can with a handful of pennies in it and shake it when they get rowdy with each other. and say a firm "NO" while you are shaking it. Or keep a spray bottle filled with plain water handy and give the Alpha dog a squirt when he misbehaves.

This is quite normal behaviour. The older dog is simply telling the younger dog where he belongs in the pecking order of your family.

To a dog you and your family members are all part of the pack. When you feed the dogs give the older dog his food first. Make sure you eat your meals before you feed the dogs.

You will probably notice the older dog will go through doors etc before the younger dog. This is all part of reinforcing the pecking order.

It will probably settle down in time.

Keep them in separate rooms. Will socializing them with each other on neutral territory. like a park or walking trail. somewhere that neither dog is familiar with the smells

keep both of them in separate rooms for awhile. gradually bring them closer, by trying to hold the yorkie and let your other dog sniff it, get to know it more. we had to do this with my cat and dog.

and for your older dog's feelings, give them both equal attention.
