First of I have 2 males and my 1 almost 1yr old female chi's. Maryjane went through her first heat almost 4 months now. She never mothered any toys or acted like this. She will carry these 2 old toys of thiers everywhere. Especially at bedtime, she'll take one and put it in our bed and go get the other one and start whining because she can't find a good hiding place. If you make it squeek she crys and she squeeks it and crys. I don't understand this. She's never acted like this before. Is this a sign that she's going back into heat? Do they go into heat every 4 months? I really need a dog whisperer because she seems so nutty now and I don't know what to do!!!

This happened to my dog years ago, we thought it was kind of like a false pregnancy. Our dog used to growl and snalr at us when we tried to take the toy away, we couldnt do anything about it...you can let her wait it out, cause it is like a phase. If she starts whineing try calming her down by talikng to her in a nice soothing tone of voice..this is sure to help.

Sounds like a false (also known as phantom) pregnancy. Sometimes they will even produce milk. Your vet should be able to give her something to help lessen the symptoms, otherwise she should come through this herself, but just be aware that she really believes she has puppies, and may "defend" them as a mother would if she feels her "puppies" are under threat.

To me it sounds like she may have gone through a false pregnancy. She has adopted teh toys as her pups.
She shouldn't be in heat they usaully go into heat every 6 mos or more.
I would also poss. have her checked by the vet to see if there is anythign wrong with her
Good luck

It feels like a pretend being pregnant. She's nesting and searching after her toy. some woman canines do this. I grew up with a Shih-Tzu that did a similar some circumstances. you fairly might desire to get your canine spayed quickly to save her from the varieties of hormone swings. whilst hormones selection like this it does impact how she feels and this is not friendly. it could additionally reason issues between her and the different canines. Spaying a canine additionally reduces the prospect of breast cancer and uterine infections. solid success!

She is just mothering the toys. Don't stop her. She's fine. Unless she gets nippy about it, why does it hurt anything?

The vet can give her a hormone shot to make her stop, but why?
