We want to start keeping her outside at night because she is a big breed and will grow fast. She has been difficult to potty train so we bought her a dog igloo (which she loves and is in most of the day). But at night, she wants to be inside with us and will whine and bark all night. I fear the neighbors and mother-in-law are getting sick of it. HELP ME!

I am looking to get a bull mastiff dog. I have already got an American Bulldog who is 7 months old. He is quite dominant (not aggressive) and i wondered what type of dog a bull mastiff is. I would like to hear from people who own them.

My dog was bitten by a brown recluse spider. His wound has healed however he is now biting the area. The doctor said he is self mutilating himself. What is causing this? and how do i get him to stop? Will this sensation ever go away?

My dog just had his neutering surgery yesterday. His testacles had not dropped and were inside of him. They had to cut him more than expected. One they found right away, the other one had not moved at all. They had to take his intestines out to get the testacle which was behind the kidney. I have been with him all nite and all day, I got him home the same day as my vet had a family obligation. Every once in awhile, he will go nuts and lick his wound. His stitches are on the outside and the vet told me not to submerge him in water. So, I am wondering if him licking would cause the stitches to wear down. I only have one more nite before my vet can help me out. I am tired and exhausted, keeping him from licking. I tried an E collar, one of those cone collars, but his heart rate went high sky, and I did not want him to get a heart attack. Any suggestions? The wound is not covered. It would be great if I could relax and get some sleep and most importantly, that my Sammy can get some sleep.

We have a female basset named Daffnee and we are keeping two of her babies (both female) from a litter of 12. My mom is keeping another sibling and she chose the name Violet. I need two names for our two new pups. Both are female. One is lemon and white and the other is a tri color. Thanks for your help.

Okay so there is a Pet shop in my area and it's called The Dog House. I have been reading some reviews of the shop and some people say they buy dogs there that are carrying Parvo and some people say that they are healthy.
Now what exactly is Parvo?
They have Yorkshire Terriers and Maltese which I am interested in getting but should I take the risk of getting a puppy with Parvo? They're much cheaper than the mall who sells it for $2600 but The Dog House takes cares of vet bills for the first year and come with a guarentee.
What do you think I should do?

Just wondering as when i have asked questions about dog breeds on here i always get answers saying i should get a rescue?
Whenever i see programmes etc on rescue dogs my heart melts and i could take each and every one! i have considered getting one, but when it came down to it i got a pedigree lab from a breeder, my family have always had pedigree dogs.
I think that owning a dog is such a huge responsibility and you should make the decision that is right for u, i like the fact that there is predictive qualities to a pedigree so you are more likely to get a dog that suits your lifestyle what do you think?

I noticed the Iams kitten food is on the recall list now. I am giving my kitten the dry Iams but am afraid to now. So I heard the Science Diet dry food is good. She seems to be eating that ok.

I have a beagle/basset hound. We're moving to an apartment that will accept pets as long as they are well behaved and not a disturbance. She's a great dog and doesn't get into any trouble...she listens very well. However, how do I teach her not to do something as natural as howling?

She could wake up the entire building with her howls. She does it mostly when she gets excited (which is often). Any advice?

I adopted a 3 month old puppy (Willie) about 2 weeks ago. I am trying to house train Willie, but it has not been easy. He is a black lab/ german shepherd mix and is a very bright dog. However, pottying outside is not coming easy to him! Upon the advice of the humane society where I adopted Willie and his vet, I am crate training him. He can hold his bladder all night in his kennel and during the day while I am at work. However, he will go to the bathroom in the house when I am home on weekends and evenings.

I am using positive reinforcement to train Willie by giving him a lot of praise when he goes outside. However, I am still finding he will go inside if I don't take him out every half-hour.

Any advice or thoughts? I would love it if he would go to the door or do something similar to signify he needs to go. Is this something that will occur with time, or do I need him to train him to give me signals?

I do not want to take her to a shelter or place ads in the paper as I am unsure of the people I will attract giving away a free purebred.

My pug b*tch recently started her first heat cycle. We've been meaning to spay her but have not had a chance to do so? Do we need to wait 3 weeks or so for it to end, or can we spay asap?

I recently adopting a chihuahua from a private home. The lady recommended putting olive oil on his food because that helps their coats. Is this okay? Also is it okay to give the little guy milk every day as a "treat"?

It started like 6 months to a years after we got her from the Pet Store... and at first it wasn't very bad, but now it's completely
covering her nose, and spreading over her Eyelids, Chin and mouth!
What can we do to help her?
The rash seems to get worse in the Summer...

We took her to the Vet and they gave us a cream to put on her rash but It's just SOOOO exspensive, and it's such a little tube of that cream, we have to use like the hole tube to cover her rash!

Is there any home remedies(?) that would work?

My poor doggie has a VERY sensitive stomach. We don't feed him any table food and he still gets sick. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a dry dog food that has worked for their dog? (he can't eat the wet stuff, that makes him sick too)
