It started like 6 months to a years after we got her from the Pet Store... and at first it wasn't very bad, but now it's completely
covering her nose, and spreading over her Eyelids, Chin and mouth!
What can we do to help her?
The rash seems to get worse in the Summer...

We took her to the Vet and they gave us a cream to put on her rash but It's just SOOOO exspensive, and it's such a little tube of that cream, we have to use like the hole tube to cover her rash!

Is there any home remedies(?) that would work?

Tigger gave you a great answer -- the fact is, we can't diagnose your dog's problem, here, and you didn't say what the vet said it was.

I assume that a skin scraping was done?

The only thing I can add is that some poorly bred Siberians (and any Siberian husky coming from a pet store falls into this catagory, sadly) are prone to Zinc-Responsive Dermatosis, which likely has a genetic link.

The good news is that this condition can be treated with Zinc supplements, which are relatively inexpensive.

If the fact is that what you're doing for the dog isn't working, you should ask your vet about Zinc-Responsive Dematosis, or take your dog to a different vet who may be willing to offer more help.

Good luck!

It could be many things. I am a vet tech and think that you should take the dog to a vet before trying ANYTHING on your own. If you are not happy with your current vet, then go to someone else. Ask your vet for a referral to a dermatologist, if there is one in your area. I do not know what state you live in, but where I live there are a few (new england area).

I have never heard of a zinc deficiency, but fortunately I see few huskies with skin issues to begin with. Of those most have scabies or mange. I would definitely ask about the zinc thing. A good breeder generally knows what they are talking about.

Please do not try anything on your own. I know that it is never cheap to take your pet to the vet, but if you try something at home without veterinary approval you may be doing more harm than good, especially if the problem is on the dogs face. Don't mess around with stuff when there is a problem close to her eyes!

Also, a good vet will give you other options if one thing is too expensive. Not everyone is rich, and they have to understand that! There generally is more than one medication to treat a problem. Just that some work better than others.

If it is just around the dogs tearducts that is a normal discharge. If it more than that then it needs to be checked out. My two dog used to have a lot of "normal" eye discharge but since I put then on Innova Evo kibble and a raw diet this has just about gone away. Also, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in the dogs food everyday is an excellent remedy for this problem. It is also very good for the overall health of your dog. Good luck.

I do agree that medicines can be outrageously expensive.

Without knowing what is causing the rash, I can't offer any suggestions- Except to use the cream. And if it doesn't work, take her back to the vet, or to another one who will explain what's going on.

Good luck!

It might be red mange youre vet should have done a scrape to see. There is no cure. You can find some cheeper mange treetments at youre groomer, but the vets creem does work the best.

Mix a raw egg and olive oil together and put it in with the dogs regular food.
