Maybe he has seen something there before and he's checking to see if it's back. Perhaps there is something that catches the light and makes a prism at certain times of the day that catch his attention. Maybe he saw a spider there once before. Dogs are funny. Sometimes (well, daily) I wish mine could talk and tell me what they are thinking.

How do you know there's nothing there? Just because you can't see anything doesn't mean the dog can't see or sense or smell something. Cats do it even more than dog's do and the ghosts people talk about can be a tiny spider too small for our eyes to see, a shadow, a reflection we missed seeing or even an insect under the floorboards of the room above!

In any given situation, focus on what you do want your dog to do instead of on whatever he’s doing wrong. Learn how to train your dog https://tr.im/7q5sH

For example, suppose that on many evenings, your young dog gets busy looking for trouble just as you’re digesting your dinner. He grabs a boot from the mat by the front door and gallops through the house with it. You yell at him and take it away. He grabs its mate. You yell and take it away. He heads for the kitchen and starts checking out the counters in case something tasty’s been left behind. You chase him away. And on and on, until you’ve lost your temper and torn out clumps of hair you can ill afford to lose.

My dog does that sometimes. He will stare at the wall for no reason. Sometimes he barks at things that I can't see. I was told my house may be haunted, because somebody passed away here a long time ago. Do some reasearch on you house maybe it will make it easier to figure out.

According to you, there is nothing there, but dogs can see things humans can't and we can see things they can't. Most likely he wasn't looking but sniffing. Dogs sense of smell is about 10,000 times stronger than a humans, but there vision isnt as good as ours.

My dog Barney does that too, usually with his head on one side. So i like to think he's listening to angels. The dog i had before him would just stand still in the street and bark and growl at the air. looking attentatively!! So if your dog is just looking then its a good sign methinks! woo, just spooked myself thinkin about it.

My dog does that all the time, he sits staring at the wall too until you call him. Not sure why he does it either but my mother says he is looking at the angels.
