Within the next few months. They can go into heat by 6 months old, but are usually a little older.

This is a very interesting question indeed !

There is a huge difference in the actual time that any given breed and any given female comes into season.

Many breeds can and do come in around the 6th month of age .Others do not mature as quickly and could come in season from their 6th to 12th month. I had a female Basenji that held off until she was 1 1/2 years old.! I believe that it is important to learn to watch for the behavior and physical changes in your female that are the important signs.

If you are not going to breed her, then you can save yourself a lot of time and worry if you spay her. However, everyone who owns a female of any species , should be aware of the signs of impending season.....this in itself is an education.
If you are very observant and careful, it is possible to have a female go through a season and not get bred.

If your dog comes in season before she is spayed ,it is very important that you do not let her get bred before she is at least 2-3 years old.
The danger of an early breeding is that your female will lose so much of the nutrients (that she needs for her own development ) to the developing fetuses.
In other words the puppies will soak up the minerals etc. that she needs to reach full develpment herself.

Best of luck in following others, before you ,who have dealt with a female.

''Miniature Schnauzer'' is the correct spelling, by the way. Please don't breed, if you can't even spell the breed correctly.

Anyways, it will vary with every dog, but it's usually around 6 -9 months old, when they'll have their first heat.

Please spay!
