I'm considering having my 4 dogs microchipped, because their rabies/license tags either break off, or the ring they're on weakens and comes uncoiled.

Also, is microchipping a once-in-a-life-time thing, or will they have to get microchipped every few years?

My dog's penis looks like it's swollen. The tips looks like an inflated balloon. When it's fully out it looks like a hot dog. Keep in mind I have a tiny min pin. Anyone have any insight?

Hello everyone. I'm a 23 year old, single guy moving to San Diego this summer and want to get a dog (never had one before). I'll be living in an apartment by the beach, working at home or on the beach (via laptop) most of the time. I want a friendly, social dog that wouldn't be too heartbroken if I wasn't home a lot, but would also enjoy spending time with me outside the apartment.

I jog every morning, so the dog should enjoy running with me as well. When I do leave on business (1-2 days max per week) I'll be leaving the dog with the best sitter money can buy while I'm gone. Basically, I just want a dog that loves to hang out, but knows how to chill out on his own or with other dogs (i'll get him lots of toys too). Also, must be able to potty train and NO BARKING.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? (dogs only please)

P.S. - are chihuahuas and pugs too needy, or can i have them trained early on to be less needy?

don't get me wrong, I WILL LOVE MY DOG, just want to get off on the right foot

Who remembers the Taco Bell comercials where they had the little dog that said. "Yo Quierro Taco Bell?" Anyone know why they still don't use him as the Taco Bell icon? Just curious...

I want to go up and down a beach with a dog and dig up stuff, and the dog would sniff and bark to tell me where it is. I know bloodhounds are good, but what else.

I took him to the vet who confirmed it was Kennel Cough. He gave me some Amoxicillin liquid and told me to have him rest and sleep as much as possible.

Is there anything I can do to help him beat this quicker and get better?

Personal experience anyone?

This may be my fault, but Tarquin (French Poodle) had a bad experience with a lady dog (Rottweiller/Great Dane cros) in his youth. Since then He's only socialised with other male dogs.

I've noticed he likes to get his face near to their backsides, like he wants to rim them - could he be a gay dog?

Is there a test I can do?

If he is gay, are there any gay dog clubs he can go to and be with other gay dogs - listen to some Erasure and lick some balls, etc.?

I have a 14 week old German Shepherd, my breeder told me since he is a working dog to have him on a joint formula that helps with the tissue and bone fluid. The product that is formulated for dogs is 90$. She told me to go to a drug store and ask for a joint supplement with only these three ingrediants in it.

MSM
Glucosamine
Choindritan

And minus 2 from the adult directions

3 tabs for adults daily.....1 tab for dogs daily.

Has anyone ever tried this...this was a breeders experience and reccommendation.

This dog came up to my house a couple months ago. He is really sweet. I see dogs that look similiar to him sometimes and one lady told me it was a Cardigan Corgi. I looked up pictures of those online and his body is too short and legs too long to be a Corgi!

I have a 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier. He's always been a cuddly little guy. When he wakes up in the morning he sometimes lays his head on my face. Is that an attention getter, or a sign of afftection? He's always slept with me since he was 6 months old. He's pretty much a mama's boy.

I have heard plenty about the *hardest* breeds to house train, so now what are the easiest ones?

I know chow chows are very smart when it comes to house training. I had one that never soiled when he was a puppy. He would go outside and go as far away from the house/yard as he could.

My almost 4 month old Cairn Terrier loves to run off with slippers, small stuffed animals, towels, etc. which are all items we do not want him to have. We shout "No" very loud which startles him and briefly stops him from trying to get the item, but he goes right back to trying to get the item as quick as possible. If he does get the item he runs away with it or if you go to punish him for trying to get the item he runs away from you so you can't punish him. I know this is mostly puppy nature but what can we do to stop him from getting items we don't want him to have.

I'm looking to get a new puppy and I live in California. All of the websites I have been looking at are in different states or the price is too high. I'm looking for a puppy that my other dog (also a chihuahua, but she's a runt, so she's rather small) can teach things to. I need the puppy to still be quite small when it is full-grown. I'm also looking for a puppy that I can get for $500 or less. I know I'm asking a lot, but if you know of any websites or even people, I'd be so happy. Thank you!

I have a JR. She seemed fine this morning like taking her outside. In the afternoon she started throwing up. A few more throw ups of like a saliva slimy type stuff. Now she's all docile and drewling. There's a puddle of spit on the floor with drewl hanging from her mouth. She seems so dead. Somethings wrong with her. What's wrong with her. I really can't afford a vet right now. Does anyone know what might be wrong with her. If worse comes to worse I will take her to a vet eventhough I don't have cash for it now, but what might be wrong with her?
