Who remembers the Taco Bell comercials where they had the little dog that said. "Yo Quierro Taco Bell?" Anyone know why they still don't use him as the Taco Bell icon? Just curious...

I found this on WikiPedia...

Despite the dog becoming a popular pop icon, the restaurant's declining sales caused the company to retire the role and replace with new advertisements. It did cause a few rumors that the dog was retired after an accident. It was also rumored that the model "Gidget" had passed away, but Taco Bell denies this, saying the dog is currently living with owners in La Grange, Texas.

I heard it disappeared at Subway. To bad, it was the best exposure the breed ever had and a real good campaign. The art built around the campaign is worth a little money here and there.

Probably went the way of all advertising campaigns; which are about as permanent as any American marriage between product and consumer.

A Yahoo search for -- Taco Bell Dog will drive your Chevy to pages of stuff on this subject; from eBay to law suits. If you find the exact day the levy went dry let me know.

i always remembered him he inspired me to get a chihuahua dog and i did :)
guess people grew old with the comericals and they decided to change to up-to-date commerical to convince people eat more taco. Like McDonald, they used to show a lot of Ronald, that clown, ran around, played with kids but all suddenly they are focused on food, how health is it and stuff. so yeah.

They stopped the commercials because there was an influx of people getting chi's because of the commercial and a couple of years later, an influx of chi's in shelters.
