Make sure you have a quality brand of dog food, not something you can pick up at the grocery store.

Royal Canin is the best, you can get it at your vet's office. If he is still spurning the dog food, leave it out for a day or two and give him nothing else. He will eat it if he knows he is getting nothing else.

If he still doesn't eat he amy have a health problem. Take him to the vet asap

Some of the answers below are great, but refrain from giving him too many table scraps, especially "unhealthy" ones. It'll only make the situation worse. Don't give him any "human" treats, especially until he starts eating his own food normally again. Healthy human food is okay though... I have a pup who's just over a year old now and we struggled for a few months getting her to eat properly... she's in love with everything BUT dog food... we found that she enjoys "healthy" snacks like green peppers and carrots, and for the most part, anything that's good for humans is good for dogs too! so sometimes we'll mix in veggies she likes with her food and usually she eats most of it... The thing that seems to work best though, is mixing in a raw egg (it's a great source of protein and helps make their coat healthy and shiny), she just tears it up! Occasionally, we'll put a slice of cheese on the bottom of her dish and put her food on top... we don't mix it up, I guess the smell drives her crazy because she'll eat as fast as she can to get to the cheese at the bottom... But cheese isn't the greatest for dogs, so don't make it a routine thing! She lost a little bit of weight, which will probably happen as they adapt... as long as he's not too "bony" weight loss is okay initially because once he does start eating properly, he'll gain it back! They also do make food for "active" dogs that's higher in fat and protein, if he's eating but not a lot, you may want to switch to something like that to help keep the weight on him...

Do NOT leave the food out! depending on the size and age of the dog they should eat 1-3 times a day. If the dog is an adult it should eat 1ce a day AT NIGHT, after you have eaten. Put the food down & give him/her 5 minutes to go for it (make sure that it is tasty quality chemical, by-product free, meat filled kibble) . If after 5 minutes the dog does not go for it, pick it up & put it away. tomorrow night put fresh food down after day 3 the dog should get it. it is more owner training than anything, but no snacks till dinner is consumed. To find a good food go to www.naturapet.com, or www.eaglepet.com avoid Petsmart & the supermarket & costco & walmart(where you should never go anyways).

I take it someone spoiled him on human food or he doent like the smell of what you feed him. Thats an easy one. Give him table scraps mixed with a little high quality kibble. A good lamb and rice food like new balance from walmat will do or blueseal lamb and rice. over a period of 2 weeks increase the kibble and decrease the table scaps. Until hes eating all kibble. Imes makes a sauce for dog food its sold in the grocery stores. Add that to the kibble also. Continue this for another 2 weeks lessening the sauce as you go and he'll convert. Just dont start giveing him table scraps unless you intend to give it to him all the time with his kibble.

It sounds really mean, but he'll eat when he's hungry. Leave the food out for him and give him nothing else. Eventually, he'll learn that the only thing he is going to get is his food. Don't let him go too long without eating, though. If he is losing weight or is acting out of character, talk to your vet, he might have something wrong. Also be sure to keep plenty of clean fresh water available at all times.

Maybe you could try putting table food in his bowl and sprinkle dog food on top or mix them together. Good Luck!
